We mourned the death of a keyboard. San Geraldo’s wireless keyboard appeared to be drained. His does not recharge but takes AAA batteries. We were all out. I went to the local bizarre and picked up a package. That didn’t do the trick. So he went online to see if there was anything else he needed to check. He found helpful advice that explained in so many words that he should plug the keyboard in and then unplug it to trick it into being wireless again. That stumped him. It’s wireless; what was he supposed to plug in? So, this morning, we walked over to El Corte Inglés and bought a new wireless keyboard. Not an Apple keyboard for €229, but a Logitech keyboard for €39. I’m surprised San Geraldo hasn’t told me that we now have €190 to spend somewhere else.
On the way home we stopped for coffee at the unfriendly but good-quality Roldán Bakery, because it was there. SG came directly home and I walked over to the neighborhood bizarre again to pick up a new Phillips-head screwdriver. That’s what SG is using to assemble the aquarium cabinet and the head of ours had finally worn down.
The temperature was surprisingly low (for us) at just 31˚C/88˚F but the humidity was surprisingly high (for us) at 64% and SG was already damp. I would have walked the 10 minutes downhill to the hardware store, but the idea of walking home the 10 minutes uphill didn’t thrill me. I wasn’t yet damp, but felt like I might melt.
I found a cheap screwdriver that will do the trick so that SG can finish assembling the cabinet. I figured, for €1.60, it wouldn’t matter if it only lasted for this one project. The aquarium is still in the box. The apartment looks like a construction site.
We both had siestas after lunch and I put clean sheets on the bed when I woke up. I wouldn’t want to waste clean sheets on an overheated siesta.
Last night we went to Cebú, a restaurant near the train station. We taxied there and walked home and had a pleasant and delicious meal.

No funcionó.

I like SGs economics — what you didn’t spend is now available!
Boud
Oh, Boud. This has been the story of our lives. We once bought a $900 monitor for our computer. It wasn’t compatible. We exchanged it for a $300 monitor and SG asked, What should we do with the extra $600?!? (We spent it.)
I have tucked in a stranger’s shirt tag before.
Kelly:
Women can get away with it, I think.
I love Cebu’s mural and ceiling. Also love that apartment building’s lobby. So much beauty just waiting to be found and appreciated!
Debra She Who Seeks:
Cebu has more art I was too lazy to walk around and get. Beautiful, simple interior. That lobby was a surprise. On either side of the entrance are a Dominos Pizza (ugh) and an ornate Chinese restaurant.
Carlos would say, We saved $190. And I’d say We Spent $39.
To-may-to, to-mah-to!
Love the mural in the restaurant!
Bob:
I now jokingly say what I know SG will say.
Oh, I’d make a reservation at Cebu just to sit next to that cool mural.
Kirk:
It’s a great place, too. And there’s something relaxing about the cool art.
That apartment lobby is something! I feel like I should be dressed up just to traverse it. Olivia
Olivia:
That lobby is flanked by Dominos Pizza and a Chinese restaurant. I was surprised. I’ll share a photo of the building soon.
Crape Myrtle looks like Rhododenrons from a distance.
That ‘entry way’/lobby is lovely!
Crape myrtle can be lush and stunning. I was so surprised by that lobby.
It has been to long since we untwisted someone’s manstrap.
David:
Not the man I’d want to untwist, but I agree.
I had read that post about SG’s mama before but I had to reread it because I remembered how much I loved it. And I loved it again! I think of Alice every time I see a blooming crepe myrtle which is quite frequently.
At my very first glance at that man’s bag strap I yearned to untwist it myself.
Also- thank you for reminding me of the Tower of the Wrongly Dead Woman. You know how much I love that name.
Mary Moon:
I do love living so close to that.
Mary Moon:
SG regularly has his shoulder strap twisted. I always fix it. It makes me crazy. He just laughs. Just the thought of Alice makes me smile.
Oh, noooooooo, I can’t unsee that twisted strap 🙁
I can’t quite make out what the bull’s tail croissants are, exactly, but I’ll take your word that it was good.
That apartment building entrance is so colorful and clean and interesting!
Judy C:
Yeah, it was hard to see the croissants. They were small and filled/covered in rabo de torro. I’ll share a photo of that building, which is nice although it tops Dominos pizza and a Chinese restaurant. Very large apartments apparently (there’s a 7 bedroom).
I was so focused on the flower and foliage that I didn’t see the woman’s face at first.
Me too, want to turn that bag strap.
