Well, The Kid Brother’s office staff took him to a new supermarket in his neighborhood to see if they could line up a job for him. The manager met him and said to fill out an official application, which they did. Here’s hoping.
I can’t believe he still wants to work with his bad knee, but he’s bored and the extra money would clearly make a huge difference. Meanwhile, I have his bank information and I hope to successfully send him some money today to help him get by this month. It seems he has a new resident manager (again) and this one has been very responsive. Maybe we’ll have better times ahead.
I put away yesterday’s laundry (whites), which I forgot on the roof overnight, and I have another load of laundry (bed linens) in the machine right now. I have to go make up the bed with fresh linens. No disasters or petty annoyances so far today.
San Geraldo’s aquarium plants arrived yesterday and, right now, he’s placing them. It’s looking beautiful. Next comes the water; I think I’ll make myself scarce. Walk with me.

Me cuesta creer que quiera trabajar teniendo la rodilla mal, pero está aburrido y el dinero extra supondría, sin duda, una gran diferencia. Mientras tanto, tengo sus datos bancarios y espero poder enviarle algo de dinero hoy mismo para ayudarle a salir adelante este mes. Parece que tiene un nuevo administrador residente (otra vez) y este se ha mostrado muy atento. Quizás nos esperen tiempos mejores.
He recogido la ropa de ayer, que olvidé en la azotea durante la noche, y ahora mismo tengo otra tanda (ropa de cama) en la lavadora. Tengo que ir a hacer la cama con sábanas limpias. De momento, no ha habido desastres ni contratiempos molestos en el día de hoy.
Ayer llegaron las plantas para el acuario de San Geraldo y ahora mismo las está colocando; está quedando precioso. Lo siguiente es el agua; creo que me apartaré un poco. Acompáñame.

Good news on the KB. I’m sure a job will be good for him even if it’s just to get out of the house, and those extra coins would always be welcome.
I always love the photos of your walkabouts. Those narrow streets and the old buildings; just lovely.

I don’t expect to have cats again, although I think SG would have loved to. But, now that he has his aquarium, it’s not at all likely.

This video is great! Of course I am completely unfamiliar with that song but it’s quite snappy, isn’t it? As is the man performing it. I can just see him in front of his mirror at home, practicing those moves.

I hope KB gets the job. I’m sure he IS bored. And of course the money would help.
I was just going to ask if there was water in that aquarium yet. Glad to hear there soon will be.

The tank is full. Now the process of partially emptying and refilling begins. Jeez. I would share a photo, but one big piece of wood and all the plants around it floated to the top. Still, it’s nice to see the filter working, water moving, and half a tank planted.
I’ve seen that singer in our neighborhood, too. He gets around and, yeah, I’ve pictured him practicing in front of a mirror!
What a crazy little song. Did you give him a dollar? Yes, here’s hoping KB gets the job, something to keep him too busy to spend all his money in one week.

At first I gave him a euro (he probably wouldn’t appreciate the dollar). Then, after recording him, I threw in another euro. Two euros is my minimum rate for recordings.
I hope KB’s new resident manager helps keep things on a more even keel. Yeah, why is that guy locked behind such big ugly bars? Is it pigeon prevention or…the Inquisition?!

It’s just nice to know the office team is proactive. Hope it lasts a while. The organization just got rated one of the best employers in NYC. Maybe times are changing.
I thought the bars were odd as pigeon protectors.
Maybe those bars prevent the statue from falling off the alcove and killing pigeons on the street below?

I’m waiting for SG to get the plants and second “tree” anchored. Half floated to the top when he filled the tank. Still, very exciting to see it filled and to see the movement of the water and anchored plants.

Hey! Gregg wanted me to ask what varieties of aquarium plants SG chose. Planted freshwater aquariums are his favorite, as you know. And where did he order them? Through your local aquarium store or online?

I thought this would be simple. He ordered them all online because he found some great sites in Europe and then didn’t have to pay roundtrip taxi fare each time he went to the store here in town. (He also likes his independence and when he goes to the shop, the very kind owner offers too much advice.) Here’s the list!

Hopeful about Chuck’s new manager, we’ll see. About the water for the aquarium. Does tap water work, or is it special water? I’m thinking chlorine but maybe that will evaporate quickly. I’m so nosy, I think I’m part cat. Boud

He filled it with tap water, but has to partially drain and refill many times (daily this week) over the next several weeks. The filter is running. Wood, rocks, and plants are in but fish can’t go in until water chemistry is settled (and tested). It’s an insane process. It was simple when I had my aquariums 60 years ago! But they were only 10-gallon tanks and had no live plants. Somehow, my fish thrived.
The streets are abandoned! Until you get close to Burger King (yuk), of course. I adore the building in which it’s housed, however – “Venetian” style, indeed…

The Burger King street is a busier street (hopefully not just because of Burger King). I adore that building. Shame about the ground floor! The building next door to us is a contemporary high-end building. It, too, has a Burger King below. Blows the image.
I hope the job comes through for KB. I’m the one behind the bars. I was locked up for what I said to a rep at a certain bank because I still can’t transfer any funds and can’t make payments. My access is “restricted” and no one knows why. They’re working on it. I know how that goes.
