While up on the roof the other evening, I noticed some shadows that delighted me. After looking at the photos, I decided I needed to pose things differently but I haven’t caught the shadows at the perfect time since then. The first two photos (above and below) are from that first evening. The side-by-side in color and black & white is what I managed to catch last night.
When I learned all the work San Geraldo had to do to set up this aquarium, I wished him well. But the emptying and refilling daily (only for this week) is going incredibly smoothly and the aquascape is looking good. He’s waiting for more plants to arrive. Some finally arrived this morning after being lost in transit and need to be resent. More rocks arrived yesterday and he’ll get those placed today, which means he’ll be able to anchor the branches around the base and remove the rock and sandbags currently holding them down. Then I’ll share a photo.
I had planned to get out today before it got too hot. Then my digestive system decided to rebel and I had to wait to see if it would settle down (with pills). That left me only an hour before lunch. Lunch is done. The digestion seems to be settled. I’m about to chat with my fascinating friend Wilma who lives in Belize. After that, I’ll brave the heat and wander in the sunshine.
After being very cool all morning, it’s now hot although not extreme (unless you consider 36 ˚C/97 ˚F extreme).
La otra tarde, mientras estaba en la azotea, me fijé en unas sombras que me encantaron. Al ver las fotos, decidí que debía cambiar la disposición de los elementos, pero desde entonces no he logrado captar las sombras en el momento justo. Las dos primeras fotos (la de arriba y la de abajo) son de aquella primera tarde. La imagen comparativa —en color y en blanco y negro— es la que conseguí captar anoche.
Cuando supe todo el trabajo que San Geraldo tenía que hacer para montar este acuario, le deseé mucha suerte. Sin embargo, el proceso de vaciado y llenado diario (solo durante esta semana) está marchando sobre ruedas y el diseño del acuario tiene muy buena pinta. Está esperando a que lleguen más plantas; algunas han llegado por fin esta mañana tras haberse extraviado durante el transporte y haber tenido que ser reenviadas. Ayer llegaron más rocas y hoy las colocará; eso le permitirá fijar las ramas en la base y retirar las rocas y sacos de arena que las mantienen sujetas por ahora. Entonces compartiré una foto.
Tenía planeado salir hoy antes de que empezara a hacer demasiado calor. Pero mi sistema digestivo decidió rebelarse y tuve que esperar a ver si se calmaba (con medicación). Eso me dejó solo una hora antes de la comida. Ya he comido y parece que la digestión se ha estabilizado. Ahora voy a charlar con mi fascinante amiga Wilma, que vive en Belice. Después, desafiaré el calor y daré un paseo bajo el sol.
Tras una mañana fresca, ahora hace calor, aunque no extremo (a menos que consideres extremos los 36 °C / 97 °F).
• Mi brazo derecho debería haber estado oculto, mi cabeza no debería haber estado girada, y mis piernas deberían haber estado más juntas.

I rather like that last shot in color, the blue of the sky and the blue gray of the shadow.
SG is certainly being meticulous. As I recall way back when we had out little 10 gallon tank we just dumped the stuff in there, filled it with water, and then added fish.
That last note- is it live or is it Memorex?
The black and white choice is definitely what I like better.
How does SG manage to get all of this filling and emptying and refilling done without spilling or splashing? I’d have ruined the floor by now.
