I had some more fun with shadows on the roof and beyond. I hope you like them. Meanwhile, I went to Western Union Tuesday morning. They were unable to tell me why the money wire was rejected by The Kid Brother’s bank in New York, but they returned my cash. I phoned KB’s office, and the resident manager checked the numbers which were all correct. Damned banks. So, staff is instead setting him up with Zelle and I’m going to give it a try from our American bank.
After Western Union, I crossed the street to our new bank (how convenient that a branch is right there). I had received my new card but not my PIN. I waited a few minutes, quickly explained and, within moments, my PIN was sent to my phone. So, one problem solved.
I explored the neighborhood a bit more, then walked over to another Fernandine church, but it had closed at 1 p.m. for siesta and I arrived at 1:04. I’ll return another day to pay my respects (no, I won’t really pay my respects) to two of San Geraldo’s ancestors who are entombed there.
The Kid Brother and I had our video chat last night. Of course the question he asked was, “Hey! What happened to that money you were gonna send?!? I got nothing! I’m all out!”
As an old Irish-American friend of mine used to say, “Praise us and save us, Mrs. O’Davis.”
We’re sitting outside enjoying a leisurely second breakfast at La Bandera while Merchi makes the house sparkle.
Me divertí un poco más jugando con las sombras en el tejado y más allá. Espero que les gusten. Por otro lado, el martes por la mañana fui a Western Union. No supieron decirme por qué el banco de «The Kid Brother» en Nueva York había rechazado la transferencia, pero me devolvieron el efectivo. Llamé a la oficina de KB y el administrador verificó los datos; todos eran correctos. Malditos bancos. Así que el personal le está configurando una cuenta de Zelle y yo voy a probar a hacer la transferencia desde nuestro banco estadounidense.
Después de Western Union, crucé la calle hacia nuestro nuevo banco (qué práctico que haya una sucursal justo ahí). Ya había recibido la tarjeta nueva, pero no el PIN. Esperé unos minutos, expliqué la situación rápidamente y, al poco tiempo, recibí el PIN en el teléfono. Un problema resuelto.
Exploré un poco más el barrio y luego me dirigí a pie a otra iglesia fernandina, pero había cerrado a la 1 por la siesta y yo llegué a la 1:04. Volveré otro día para presentar mis respetos (bueno, en realidad no voy a presentar mis respetos) a dos de los antepasados de San Geraldo que están enterrados allí.
Anoche hablé por videollamada con El Hermanito. Por supuesto, lo primero que preguntó fue: «¡Oye! ¿Qué pasó con ese dinero que ibas a enviar? ¡No he recibido nada! ¡Me he quedado sin blanca!»
Como solía decir un vieja amiga mío irlandés-estadounidense: «¡Sálvanos y bendícenos, señora O’Davis!» Rima en inglés.
Estamos sentados al aire libre, disfrutando de un segundo desayuno sin prisas en La Bandera, mientras Merchi deja la casa reluciente.

So there is no way to wire the money directly from your account to KB’s? I have have two separate credit union accounts that I often transfer money between, both of them have access to 3rd party, global funds transfer organizations like Zelle. I used Zelle to get cash from the buyer when we sold our old car.
I even have an Square account that I direct the occasional credit card transaction through (my old massage practice, selling things at various trade shows).
You know… that might be an option for you. (https://squareup.com/) Set up a Square account. Link it to KB’s account. When you want to send cash, make a transaction using your banks credit card. Yes, you will need to work with the bank to tell them that the transaction from Spain to NY is legitimate, but once all that is set, the cash will be deposited within 24 hours. If you are paying a Western Union handling fee, already, the fee per transaction will be no worse than that. Then you can do it all from your desktop. Just a thought.

I love the pictures! Shadows pictures are fun and intriguing I think. I liked the one in the lobby against the marble walls. A nude one could have been interesting…thought management might not have liked that. I have sent some fun shadow pictures I’ve done to the Lad and Warbucks. You can imagine those shadows.
I like being able to see the pictures in both black and white and in color. I think shadow pictures work best in black and white but the perspective of them with color is interesting.
