According to Dudo and Moose, every year is the year of the cat. Or maybe it’s just the year of Dudo or Moose. (They don’t like to share the spotlight.) The coming year is the year of the dragon in Chinese zodiac. Cat, dragon, same thing.
We’re headed to Elena and Tynan’s for New Year’s Eve dinner. Elena is a great cook and host, and the company is the best. We’re passing on the three decanters of infused vodka from Christmas Eve. And I don’t have to wash all the dishes!
I didn’t wash the dishes two nights ago either. We decided to have dinner at Mesón Salvador. The joint was jumping and the service was excellent. I don’t think anyone on staff stopped moving the entire time we were there, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I had Ensalada del Mesón with goat cheese, raisins, walnuts, bacon, spinach, and mixed greens. Heaven.
Palm trees are being removed in sections along the Paseo to allow for the infrastucture (sewage) project. Monk parakeets live and nest in the first trees that were removed. That section is near completion and the trees have been transplanted, but the parakeets relocated. A date palm in front of our building has been taken over by a community nest. The cats have been binge-watching from the terrace.
Según Dudo y Moose, cada año es el año del gato. O tal vez es solo el año de Dudo o Moose. (No les gusta compartir el centro de atención). El próximo año es el año del dragón en el zodiaco chino. Cat, dragón, lo mismo.
Nos dirigimos a Elena y Tynan para la cena de Nochevieja. Elena es una gran cocinera y anfitriona, y la compañía es la mejor. Estamos transmitiendo los tres decantadores de vodka infundido de la víspera de Navidad. ¡Y no tengo que lavar todos los platos!
Tampoco lavé los platos hace dos noches. Decidimos cenar en Mesón Salvador. La articulación estaba saltando y el servicio era excelente. No creo que nadie en el personal haya dejado de moverse todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí, y parecían estar disfrutando. Tenía Ensalada del Mesón con queso de cabra, pasas, nueces, tocino, espinacas y verduras mixtas. Cielo.
Las palmeras se están retirando en secciones a lo largo del Paseo para permitir el proyecto de infraestucción (aguas residuales). Los periquitos de monje viven y anidan en los primeros árboles que fueron retirados. Esa sección está a punto de finalizar y los árboles han sido trasplantados, pero los periquitos se mudaron. Un nido comunitario ha asumido una palma de citas frente a nuestro edificio. Los gatos han estado mirando desde la terraza.
