My Fetish / Mi Fetiche

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

ONE AFTERNOON, WHILE we were having lunch in a restaurant in Palm Springs, California, with My Mother the Dowager Duchess and our dear friend Judyshannonstreetwhat (click here), The Dowager Duchess matter-of-factly inquired, “Mitchell, do you still have that foot fetish?”

After Judy’s coughing fit subsided, I explained.

During the many years that I carried around a sketchbook I often sketched my feet — my hands, too. Simply because they were there, easily posed, and cooperative models. Judy believed my explanation. I wish all my youthful secrets The Duchess so readily shared were as easy to explain away. Here are some examples of my fetishes.

It’s good The Duchess never saw this sketch or she would have asked about my nipple fetish.
Es bueno que La Duquesa nunca haya visto este boceto o ella habría preguntado por mi fetiche de pezón.

  1. Oh My Goodness !
I adore have an artist blog friend. Such wonderful sketching ! Your mum is so funny
All of my blog friends are wonderful writers and then there is me.
Just now I almost wrote on a post… I don’t understand what you said. le sigh

    1. Parsnip,
Thanks so much. I sometimes find myself missing the point of others’ writings. I don’t say anything, hoping my brain will click later. Sometimes it does. Also, I do get comments every so often where I think the reader may have missed the point. I rarely say anything. And often, they were being clever and I MYSELF missed the point.

    1. David,
I can only imagine what my mother told her sisters. A family without filters!

    1. MEBE,
Wow! I loved Escher. Wish I had some of my old drawings that went further. Thanks!

    1. Judy,
Thanks again. This has been fun for me. I have more I haven’t shared. And drawing again, too!

  2. You kinky little bastard. Apparently, a foot fetish is the most common of all fetishes, particularly among men. There’s your trivia fact for the day!

    1. Debra,
As far as I know, I don’t have anything that would be considered a fetish. Feet? Definitely not.

  3. As usual, I like all of these. The one with your foot wearing that sandal, for some reason is very endearing. I don’t know what the difference is between a kink and a fetish, but I have one or the other for Kevin Bacon. Every time I see him in something, I want to chew on his nose! Kink? Fetish? Just plain weird? Who knows?!
I am so happy that your outer extremities were/are so cooperative. I love your imagination.

    1. Deedles,
I do especially like the one in the sandal. I was sitting in a back garden in Georgetown, DC, when I drew that. I need to go buy good drawing pencils. I forgot how much I loved that medium. Kevin Bacon does have a certain something, but I’m not chewing on anyone’s nose… except Jerry’s… although that doesn’t thrill him.

    1. Anne Marie,
Blobby has beautiful feet. Where’s my sketchbook? I’ve never had a pedicure. I’d be SO uncomfortable.

      1. anne marie:
I’ve had manicures in the past (not for YEARS, though) and loved what was produced but couldn’t stand the experience. Well, one time was pleasant, the manicurist was wonderful to visit with. The other times, they didn’t say a word and it was just completely weird.

      2. I’ve only had two pedicures in my whole life. Both were on cruise ships. I loved them, once I was assured that my gun boats would fit into the tub thing. That first peddy was a lot more fun than that canceled ATV excursion would’ve been!

      3. Deedles:
I would love the AFTER of a pedicure. But the person doing the work would have to be unbelievably charming to get me to sit through that!

  4. All looks just a little ‘sketchy’ to me!!
I would think that these old sketchbooks ‘take you right back’ to that time in your life. What a great diary to have.

    1. Jim,
You’re right. It is a great diary. Sandal Sketch was in our back garden in DC, as was Nipple Sketch. I look at some old photos and have no ida where they were taken; sketches are immediately remembered. A few more I think I’ll share this week.

  5. Can’t tell you how happ y it makes me to see your work, Mitch.
    Feet & Speedos ~ HELLO!!!

    1. Ron,
Thanks so much. That means a lot to me. That Speedo was Jerry, San Juan, Puerto Rico, November 1981! Arcos Blancos resort.

  6. I am still in awe of this reveled nugget of talent. Your drawing are very similar to when I posed for my friend Doug this year, except he does his drawings in charcoal and some colored pastel. Have you ever did a whole life model yet? Maybe one of the waiter at your regular dinning haunt would pose?

    Thanks for sharing your work!

    1. Mistress Maddie,
Oh I’ve done dozens of life models. Sadly I don’t think I have one example to share. I either gave them away, sold them (I actually did sell quite a bit in the 70s) or tossed them! I’ll look through my scans and digitized photos because my mother had a couple framed and I may have taken pictures.

    1. Larry Uf fin,
My mother had few filters. Some of her sisters had none at all. That episode was simply funny. Other times she really did mortify me with what she shared.

    1. Urspo,
Oh, I could keep you employed for the rest of your life. This episode was very funny. Most others were humiliating.

  7. Eres un artista. Todas tus publicaciones con varios de tus dibujos no hacen más reafirmarme en la idea de que deberías seguir dibujando. Me encantan tus dibujos y su realismo.

  8. I never understood the actual kind. I know most women would stare at a man and be like “out!”
