Sapped / Sin fuerza

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

San Geraldo is not suffering with obvious cold symptoms but he’s almost completely sapped of strength and energy. This morning, instead of rushing down for the hotel breakfast (which is very good, but a bit hectic), we took a two-minute walk to a nearby café. We then walked another three minutes to pick up our laundry, which I had dropped off yesterday. When we got back to our room, San Geraldo had to lie down. I went back out and wandered for between one and two hours. I don’t have my usual energy, but I’m to the point that I can at least push myself. When I got back, we went out for a quick lunch and then hit a couple of shoe stores hoping that San Geraldo might find size 49 or 50 (14 or 15). It didn’t happen. After those two nearby stores, San Geraldo was done in and returned to the hotel for another lie-down. I saw the sights for another couple of hours and returned to find SG back in bed. Tomorrow I at least will be spending the day with 9-year-old Olav and 12-year-old Selma. It looks like San Geraldo won’t be up for that. We’ll walk over to the Museum of Natural History. I told Anete she was going to have to tell me the rules and she said, “It’s still summer holiday, there are no rules.” So, they’ll call the shots. I think Burger King, Starbucks, and a candy store await. We’re supposed to fly up north Friday. I hope SG will be up to it. Meanwhile, let’s review my first walk of the day.

.

No sucedió.

  1. When Marita had covid she had it the same way as SG.I do hope he will be “fit for fight” soon.

  2. Sorry to hear SG is sapped of energy. I hope he gets it back sooner rather than later. Charming architecture, but everything looks very, very steep there. A good workout for your glutes, I would imagine.

    1. Debra:
Bergen is a city of 7 mountains. But there are plenty of flat areas to walk (or mostly flat)!

  3. These pix are kind of depressing to me for some reason. Oh, well. SG needs to rest more. It’s way too easy to tax oneself when feeling a bit better, then WHAM! down for the count. Been there, done that way too many times. Hugs and forehead kisses to you both.

    1. Deedles:
I promise to share more colorful pics. Thanks for the hugs and forehead kisses. They worked.

  4. Oh man, so sorry to SG is down with severe fatigue.Spirit might (or might not) be willing, but the body just isn’t able to summon the energy. Hugs to you both. Know how much you wanted to share this experience with each other. Hope things are improved for SG by the time you fly north on Friday.

  5. Yes sorry as well to hear that SG just can’t participate with the relatives. I hope his energy comes back soon.
Bergen looks very quaint and inviting.

    1. Jim:
I had a blast today with the kids. He met us for lunch. On a good day, he wouldn’t have had the energy!

  6. Even the back alleys in Bergen are quaint and storybook-like! Hopefully, with lots of rest and fluids, SG’s energy levels will recover for the next leg of your Norwegian holiday.

    1. Tundra Bunny:
It looks like things will be OK. I made him drink sugar-free PowerAde, and he obeyed.

  7. Like any virus, sleep is the best way for the body to get rid of it – thank heavens tiredness is his only symptom. It will get better, of that I have nod doubt. Everyone I have spoken to who had any kind of reaction to the latest infection (and many, like myself, did not have any significant symptoms at all) says it doesn’t last for more than a week. Fingers crossed! Jx

    1. Jon:
It looks like he’s through the worst. Here’s hoping the vacation is back in gear.

  8. Omg!!!! That village is stunning!!!! Very cute and quaint…..love the feel of it. I don’t even mind that silver and glass house with the spiral staircase. I have to go here.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Population of Bergen is nearly 300,000. And, yes, you HAVE to visit. Great art galleries and museums, too!

  9. Hopefully SG will feel better as the trip progresses. Nothing worse than being sick on holiday!

Those little narrow streets look like movie sets!

  10. Poor SG. I really feel for him. That is just the way it hit me. It was so frustrating because I had zero energy. I am just starting to get it back and it has been three weeks. That is such a beautiful place. I am sure that he wishes that he could participate more but when your body just shuts down no amount of wanting and wishing helps. I am glad that at least you can enjoy it Mitchell and he can live vicariously through your adventures.

    1. Claudia:
So many people talk of their experiences with exhaustion. He’s definitely on the upswing tonight!

    1. Kirk:
His cold symptoms were more minor than mine. But he seems to be so much less exhausted this evening.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
9-year-old Olav asked me today how old I am. When I told him, he looked shocked and said, “That’s old!”

    1. Steve:
I’ll share a lot more. Bergen is a mix of austere design and brilliant color and energy,

Please share your thoughts...
