Dudo’s cold has almost completely cleared up and he is suddenly perky and not so pathetic about his situation. I replaced his paper bag in my office (the large one that sits on the floor for play). He discovered it yesterday and has made his presence known several times. He’s also again begging for (demanding) treats and gets very vocal and excited when they’re being prepared. After this afternoon’s treats, he came into my office and slapped the paper bag until I paid attention to him. He then led me to the sofa where we cuddled for a bit.
Moose is no longer terrified of Dudo’s cone and will even eat next to him again. Dudo seems to be healing well, too. So (touch wood) the litter box situation should soon be back to normal — although I have a feeling Moose will expect us to continue to clean it after each use anyway. And that is not going to happen.
I’m not spending every spare minute in bed — even less than every other minute now. The mood has improved.
We had brief moments of sun yesterday but heavy rain has been fairly constant all week. It rained through the night and has not let up even for a moment today. So much for Holy Week. Very few processions made it out of the gate. One took their chances in Málaga the other day, got caught in a deluge, and had to quickly cover the statues in plastic. The great news is that our reservoirs are above drought stage.
El resfriado de Dudo ha desaparecido casi por completo y de repente se muestra alegre y no tan patético con su situación. Reemplacé su bolsa de papel en mi oficina (la grande que se coloca en el suelo para que pueda jugar con ella). Lo descubrió ayer y ha hecho notar su presencia en varias ocasiones. También vuelve a pedir golosinas (exigentes) y se pone muy vocal y emocionado cuando se las preparan. Después de los aperetivos de esta tarde, entró en mi oficina y golpeó la bolsa de papel hasta que le presté atención. Luego me llevó al sofá donde nos abrazamos un rato.
Moose ya no le tiene miedo al cono de Dudo e incluso volverá a comer junto a él. Dudo también parece estar curándose bien. Entonces (toco madera), la situación de la caja de arena pronto debería volver a la normalidad, aunque tengo la sensación de que Moose esperará que sigamos limpiándola después de cada uso de todos modos. Y eso no va a suceder.
No paso cada minuto libre en la cama, y ahora incluso menos que cada dos minutos. El estado de ánimo ha mejorado.
Ayer tuvimos breves momentos de sol, pero las fuertes lluvias han sido bastante constantes durante toda la semana. Llovió toda la noche y hoy no ha amainado ni un momento. Hasta aquí la Semana Santa. Muy pocas procesiones lograron salir por la puerta. El otro día uno se arriesgó en Málaga, quedó atrapado en un diluvio y tuvo que cubrir rápidamente las estatuas con plástico. La buena noticia es que nuestros embalses están por encima del nivel de sequía.
• Podemos ver el barro que baja de las montañas.
• Dudo incluso intentó hoy mirar por el agujero del drenaje.

Poor Dudo. I’m glad he’s adjusting to the cone (and Moose is too) but we’ll all be happy when he gets to take it off. I’m also glad your “mood has improved,” as you said! We were supposed to get rain all weekend but it’s amazingly sunny here right now.

And it’s still raining here! Sunshine is expected as the week AFTER Semana Santa progresses. Such a shame. Dudo is showing his usual personality again. And we’ve already cleaned the litter box three times!
Soon all will be back to normal, maybe even better. The rain is good for the Olives.

I’m curious to see the reports of the impact of all this rain. I know it’s made a huge difference on the reservoirs. Can’t have hurt the crops. I hope it will make a long-term difference.
Is the rain washing away all that Saharan dust? Or does it just make it even messier? Dudo wears the cone with panache! Moose would not be able to carry off the look. I am glad you are feeling somewhat better. Maybe you will rise tomorrow. There’s a precedent.

It has poured so constantly that I think the dust that first turned to mud has now mosty been cleared. The windows of the glass curtain are dismal. Dudo is getting really good with the cone. He even slept in one of the pods on the cat tree last night.

I’m glad to see that last photo. I was wondering how difficult eating might be with that cone. Glad to know everything seems to be improving!

Dudo has finally mastered the cone. A few nights ago, he was so aggressive with the dry food dishes, that he shoved them both under the cabinet with the cone, spilling the contents everywhere.
Glad to hear all are on the mend. Here is fairly clear, a bit of sun but turned cloudy with rain expected later and tomorrow. A quiet day for the most part…some gardening and the market to pick up provisions for the Easter dinner tomorrow.

Although the weather here has been just as beautiful as it was yesterday, I’ve felt like doing very little. I wish I knew why these moods come and go. I should feel better just knowing that we do not have mud rain!

Yes. It makes us so happy and relieved to see the cats taking charge and filled with energy again. As much as I learn about myself and the moods, I still have no clue where they come from sometimes.
Hopefully it won’t be TOO much longer until everything is back to normal with everyone in your household. Then you can truly enjoy the Spring and Summer!

I had no idea that cats could get colds. Just like little children, must take care of them and their little habits. Happy to see they are both doing good. You are both the perfect parents.

Cats, like dogs and kids (and the rest of us), get colds and can be truly miserable. This time, both cats apparently got colds as a side-effect of the antibiotics they were on.
Dudo and the treats reminds me of my son. He knows how to play dirty when it comes to ice cream.

I am glad to read that things are getting better for your cats. And sorry about all of the rain, but as you said, it does fill up the reservoirs.

Dudo continues to improve. We hope to remove the cone for good within a few days. The rain has set us up for a much better summer, but I’m sure looking forward to some sunshine.
