Walking by an oleander sea / Caminando junto a un mar de adelfas

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

I had the abdominal ultrasound this morning. The medical center was busy. I waited 10 minutes to check in at Radiology and then 40 minutes to have the exam. I asked the radiologist if she thought I could wait until next Wednesday to see my doctor and she said, yes. In any case, when I went back upstairs, the main check-in was a mob scene. Guaranteed another 40-minute wait minimum. So, I instead walked across the grounds to the cafeteria where San Geraldo waited. Even that was too busy for me to want to get anything to eat. Fortunately, SG had purchased what he thought was a lemon pie but turned out to be an almond pie. Not something he likes, but heaven for me. He also had a bottle of water waiting for me.

When we got home I cooked my full breakfast of yogurt, fruit, cereal, and almonds (all out of sugar-free dried cranberries). And then I went back to bed. Early evening I decided lying around all the time isn’t making me feel any better and I’ve read that physical activity can help reduce fluids, so I took an hour-long walk.

Tonight we’re going to Mesón Salvador for dinner. It’s 8 p.m. and Dudo and Moose think they have another treat coming and if that’s what they think, they have another think coming. San Geraldo would have given them the treat.

  1. I would have thought that was lemon, too (my preferred), but would still eat the almond. I hope you enjoyed the walk!

  2. So glad that the radiologist didn’t think there was anything urgent. I just wrote up my experience which was quite different from yours, mostly because it seems my issue is pretty straight forward and easily treated. Love Keb’ Mo’! Saw him live and he was sooooo good! Yes, you do have walkin’ blues but of a different sort. Hope your walk was physically and emotionally soothing!

  3. Ohhhh, I bet that almond cake was delicious!
Sending continued good wishes for swelling issues to subside.

    1. Judy C:
The almond cake was even better than expected. The swelling is no better. Urgent Care this afternoon!

  4. Those beach umbrellas are beautiful and so exotic looking — maybe you and SG will be relaxing under one on the beach very soon? Hopefully, your doctor will have good news about your ultrasound test results. It never hurts to watch one’s salt intake as there’s so much of it in processed foods these days. I also eat plenty of English cucumbers for their natural diuretic effect.

    1. Tundra Bunny:
I have been dying to go across the street and rent a chaise. Maybe soon! We’ve been low-sodium for ages. I didn’t know that about English cucumbers. THAT would be a help.

  5. I’m hoping for good information and medical planning for you, soon. I thought that was definitely a lemon slice. But I’d have liked almond, too.
If those beach umbrellas are grasses they’ll be very cool.
    Boud said all this.

    1. Boud:
The beach umbrellas are all natural. Several different styles. Some just those plain old shaggy ones. I love these.

  6. I’m sure you heard me salivating and going Oooooooh when that almond cake popped up on the screen. Is the Pride roundabout an all year thing or just when Pride month draws near?

  7. Almond pie? Stand back, man! I have a fork in hand and am ready to wield it!
Seriously, one more step accomplished to get some answers. And what beautiful photos you gave us today. I do love those Playing for Change videos. Here is one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biGm7nUgisA
Wish I could hug you. And give those pretty cats some scritches between their ears. If that’s what they wanted.

    1. MsMoon:
Thanks for the link. I think this was one of the first Playing for Change videos I saw. So powerful! (And Keith Richards… I know why you picked this one.)

      1. Not so hard to figure out, is it? But I love the Mariachis too. And the way the storm looks to be coming in on some of the musicians. And, well, all of it.

    1. Kirk:
Ooh, you’re missing out (at least I think you are). Find yourself an almond tart or a slice of almond cake for starters.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
Me, too! I used to love those trimmers they used on the freeway.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
I hope you’re not missing anything. I have skipped a day or two here and there recently.

  8. I love the umbrellas too — but even more I love your PHOTO of the umbrellas! Fabulous.

Glad you got the ultrasound out of the way.
