A millstone and a long way down / Una piedra de molino y una larga caída

I returned from the roof a little while ago. As I hung laundry, I took down laundry. It dries within minutes. I came back downstairs with half the load already folded and in the bag even though it’s only 34˚C/93.2˚F. I found it comfortable up there. I hope to go for a walk shortly, that is if my stomach cooperates. Oh, yeah, and the dizzies. It’s been one of those days.

I forgot to share the photo of the cookies from our morning coffee Saturday. The color made me happy.

I’ve been stretching every day, at least once but aiming for more. Every other day has been a home workout of 15 to 20 minutes. It’s not much, but it’s amazing what a difference it makes. I plan to build up to more. One-minute planks are again a breeze. I haven’t yet tried to fold myself into a pretzel. Maybe today.

Me sentí cómoda allí arriba.

• From 2022. The daily pretzel I plan to soon return to.
• From our roof to the roof with the pool. Maybe further than I should jump.
• A monument to the various mills that used to be in our neighborhood. I think one was torn down in the early ’80s to make room for our building and two others on our street.
• Dudo in Disguise. That’s what you are… I guess I’ll just take your glasses. (Watch the videos.)
• Dudo disfrazado. Eso es lo que eres… Supongo que te quitaré las gafas. (Mira los videos).

  1. Oh, you could jump to that other roof, easy! 🙂

Seriously, I’m glad your heat has diminished somewhat. Great pic of Dudo as always.

  2. I usta could pretzel. Now I Dudo. I’m seriously thinking about getting that dvd with the chair exercises for seniors. Another thing to collect dust.
In my tender years 9 I think I was eleven or twelve when this song came out) I thought he was singing Judy in the Skies. I now know better, but I still hear skies.
Scoot take care when you don’t feel well. Do your best but know your limitations.
The cookies are cute. Especially the little bear faces.

    1. Deedles:
I usually don’t like cute, but I do like these cookies. Our friend Tynan using tricks to remember people’s names. For our friend Judy, he said he thought of the song “Judy in the Sky with Diamonds.” When I told him he had it wrong I think he told me to shut up.

  3. Movement is a good thing, though when the weather is uncooperative it becomes hard to do it outside so the stretching should be good. I may start that as our days are still quite hot and sticky and not in a good way.
I saw a news story this morning about a 91-year-old former Rockette who dances every day. Goddess, could that old girl move!!!

Dudo does look somehow different …. 🐱‍👤🐱‍👤🐱‍👤

    1. Bob:
Have you ever heard of the Palm Springs Follies? When we saw it, an 86-year-old former Ziegfeld girl was in the cast. She did splits on stage!

  4. I’m just going to say it- you are one good-looking man.
I loved Judy in Disguise and I realized it was a parody of Lucy in the Sky but I was okay with that although the Beatles were, you know- gods. Gods with obvious senses of humor.
I think I’ll go plank now too. I always think of Ruth Bader Ginsburg who famously included planks in her workouts even in her last years. Front and side planks. Sheesh.

        1. Boud,
Oy! The comment must have been a bit delayed. I didn’t feel like modeling the wrinkly shirt. It will come.

  5. Yes, every little movement helps at the end of the day.
Oh yes, the pretzel! Haven’t done that in a while……..thanks for the nudge.

    1. Boud:
I’m going to attack the pretzel today! I have been very grown-up about the heat. Unusual for me.

  6. Did you bring home any of those cookies? They’re so pretty! I could get in that position not that many years ago, then RA and Fibromyalgia happened. Oh well.
Dudo is so stinking cute in that photo I almost can’t stand it!

    1. Kelly:
I didn’t know about your RA and fibromyalgia. That’s rough. Despite not being able to so the pretzel anymore, I hope your days aren’t too bad. And, no, I didn’t have any cookies. But they sure look good and it’s only 4 minutes from home.

  7. Ok. First off with your track record, I would NOT jump.
2- those cookies are so fun and happy looking, I want them all.
3- What was the post about again? The tall glass of water distracted me.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Aw, Mads, you’re so good for my ego. And, yeah, when I peered over the wall, I heard you voice from the last time I did something like that.

  8. Luv ya lots, but 93 degrees F is NOT comfortable. It’s still frigging NASTY!

I don’t do well in heat. Takes too much energy out of me. We’re topping 60 this morning; first taste of Autumn. Got my sweat shirt on. Loving this.

    1. Rade:
We have adjusted quite a bit, but, yeah, 93 is hot. This morning it was 67 when I woke up. Only into the high 80s today.

  9. Back when I was doing the river guide thing in Big Bend it was like that, you’d dunk in the river and be dry in minutes. I have a 20 – 30 minute yoga routine depending on how long I hold each pose that I try to do at least twice a week at home in addition to the class I go to three days a week. I find it essential to maintain movement and flexibility.

When we had our hotel in Palm Springs and we had to work outside in summer (115 wasn’t uncommon), we would jump in the pool every 10 minutes or so. What a great way to work. I love yoga but have only dabbled

  10. 1st photo – Hubba hubba! So that’s what the roof looks like; I always had images of you hanging your laundry on tar beach. What you’ve got looks much nicer. I was in like 8th grade when that song came out, and I never figured out what the lyrics were. Thanks! I can now go to my grave with yet another mystery solved! It only tookl like 57 years.

    1. wickedhamster:
The writer actually thought the Beatles song was Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, and that’s where the idea came from. I was in 7th grade!

    1. Urspo:
Uf. This week has been much better here. 39 has been the high, but most days even lower. And it’s only 21 at the moment!

    2. Urspo:
When we moved to Spain, I thought I would hate the inconvenience of no clothes dryer. I adjusted very quickly and now prefer it. Clothes last longer. I love the fresh smell. And I do actually enjoy the activity.

    1. Sixpence Notthewiser:
My intention is to stretch a few times a day. I’ve gotten back to one or two times in recent days. Yes, better than nothing. I wish we had space for a home gym.
