I was sicker than I thought yesterday. I had painful cramps, dizziness, and nausea. Finally, after throwing up twice late in the afternoon, I was able to sleep for about an hour. SG went to the pharmacy and picked up some meds for me, but I don’t think they were necessary since, once I finally upchucked, I was tremendously improved. Having nothing to eat since breakfast, I was weak for the rest of the day. SG then went to the market so he could make me some toast and chicken soup. I slept through the night and am doing much better today.
As for the new television, I was not up to the task yesterday nor to any other task. So I didn’t do my part. I did, however, read how to attach the stand. But I was smart enough to not try since I probably would have dropped the TV. This morning, San Geraldo attached the stand and placed the TV on the table before Merchi arrived.
We just returned from coffee and I am about to attack the installation. I hope to have it done by lunch time.
Today’s photos are from a wonderful artisan shop in the Jewish Quarter. I can’t remember the name, but it’s on Calle Judíos. So far, I haven’t bought anything, although I’m always tempted. I really liked the flamenco above, but too easy to knock off the edge of shelf, I think. My camera switched to night mode while I was inside and I had to edit the photos to bring out the color and contrast. I did the best I could.
Oh, by the way, it’s raining. Merchi told me schools are closed today as a precaution against heavy rain and strong wind. She said she doesn’t remember a time in her life when schools were closed for this reason.
De momento, no he comprado nada, aunque siempre me tienta.

Good to hear you are on the mend. You are totally absolved from completing your part yesterday.
Love the juxtaposition of your first three photos–red/white cat, black/white Dudo, yellow kitty. What a great shop. Love the fans, too, especially the colorful ones in the bottom photo. Collected fans when I was a child. Got one in Barcelona that I used whenever I tried to fake out flamenco dancing–meaning I just stomped all around the room waving my fan. Oh, and I also had a wooden set of castanets. Man, I used to make a racket. 🙂 Mary
Mary:
Still a bit worn out and sore but glad it was so brief. There’s a bit of cheap tourist flamenco that looks just like that I’m afraid. It was more common on the coast. It would be so easy to start a fan collection. So much beautiful work around. Is there video of viewing being a flamenca?
I would buy one of those fans, as a gift for my someone special. Many cats would take great delight and sweeping the dancer off the shelf.
David:
There are so many beautiful fans in shops here. I’m often tempted. Surprisingly, Dudo has never climbed on furniture to knock things off. Moose could never jump to a shelf! Delicate items are more at risk from me and Merchi!
I am so sorry to hear about your upset stomach. I would rather have the flu for a week than throw up. It sounds as if you are on the mend if you are about to tackle the tv installation. Take care.
Michael:
Oh, I’d rather throw up and get it over with, but I do now get a bit stressed about it being something serious (still haven’t stopped thinking about it).
Hopefully it was just a 24 hour stomach bug sort of thing.
Glad you’re feeling better and now … TV!!!!
Some cool little things in the shop but nothing as lovely as Dudo’s punim!
Bob:
Dudo is such a sweetheart and he’s breaking both our hearts lately. Still, he was running around the house yesterday like a kitten.
Sorry to hear you were so sick, but it sounds as if it’s gone now. Remember you’re probably still dehydrated and watch out for lifting things like heavy TVs.. The cats playing snake are pretty quirky. Boud
Boud:
I wish I had gotten better shots of that shop. Mine don’t do the items justice. I’ve been drinking a lot of water. Slept like a log again last night (until 11:15). Enormously better although not quite fit as a fiddle yet.
Glad you’re feeling better! I hate barfing too, but it does often resolve an upset stomach, doesn’t it?
I just love those handcrafted ceramic figurines! And those gorgeous fans too! Although the polka dots on the flamenco ballerina are rather suggestively placed, I must say.
Debra:
I spent much of the day wishing I could just barf. It did the trick. I laughed about the polka dots comment. You’re right. But I tried to imagine how they could be placed without looking peculiar.
Oh, so sorry to hear about your illness, and glad that it passed. How kind of Jerry to make you toast and chicken soup.
Judy C:
Jerry is an exceptional nurse.
Glad to hear you’re feeling better; love the fans!
wickedhamster:
I’ll get better fans of all the fans next time. The colors in my pics are awful.
Sorry you have not been feeling well. Please take care of yourself/ Sg is a wonderful caretaker to have close by.
I like the shop you found…..
Jim:
I love the shop. I still wanted the flamenca. SG is the best caretaker.
Glad you are feeling better. The flamenco dancer would definitely take a fall with two cats in residence. The ceramic cats don’t do much for me but I love the fans!
ellen abbott:
At our house the cats would not be the problem (surprisingly). Merchi and I are the problems!
Sounds like you must have had a 24 hours bug. Glad the barfing made you feel better!
I would want that flamenco shelf sitter, but no…. probably not good for your home with two kitties.
Kelly:
I spent the day hoping to barf. It worked! The cats are not the problem at our house. I am. And so is Merchi.
sorry to hear about your being under the weather. I have been looking for a black fan like Carl Lagerfeld had. Never saw one in Spain.
larrymuffin:
I’ve seen so many similar fans in Spain. I guess mine wouldn’t meet your standards.
LOL!!!
The flamenco dancer has my full approval. I’m sure she’d be relieved to hear this. The fans are absolute beauties. Whenever I hear a woman complaining about hot flashes, I advise her to immediately drive to the Dollar Store and buy herself some fans. Rather unbelievably, they are nice fans. Not great fans, but nice. And they work!
Please keep getting better by the minute.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon:
Maureen gave SG a rechargeable, handheld fan with an AC setting. It’s astounding. Not a dollar, however. I really do want that flamenco dancer.
I really wish you could find a place you could keep it where it would be safe from the paws of your babies.
Ms. Moon:
It’s not their paws I worry about. It’s mine and Merchi’s!
I hope you’re continuing to feel better. Take care of yourself!
I love the flamenco dancer.
Jennifer
Jennifer:
At least not feeling like I did Tuesday. Thanks! I am so tempted to get that flamenco dancer.
Don’t even bother with the TV until you feel better…unless there’s really something you want to watch.
Kirk:
Since the old TV was already removed before Merchi arrived, there was some pressure. And I managed!
Sorry you were sick. Were the wind and rain really that bad? Maybe the US philosophy about closing schools is spreading around the world. When I was a kid, our schools only closed twice — once because of snow and once because of extreme cold that had the electric company asking people to set their thermostats at a lower temperature. Now the schools seem to close at the drop of a hat.
Love,
Janie

Some areas of the province have been hit very hard, and it’s ongoing. The river has overflowed in spots and is too high in the city. And the winds have been unpredictable. The winds alone make it dangerous to be outside. Palm fronds falling, tree branches (and trees) breaking off. Outside the city center there have been evacuations.
