SAN GERALDO HADN’T MADE HIS lentil soup for a very long time. We enjoyed it for dinner last night and lunch today. Of course, he added his wiener(s) for more flavor. The photo above is the sofrito he starts with. He mixed carrots, onions, celery, garlic, olive oil, and seasonings. It’s artful and delicious.
After lunch today, SG told me there was a bit of lentil soup remaining if I wanted to save it in a container as a side for our dinner. I snapped, “So, now you want me to wash the dishes and cook?” “Do I usually pack up leftovers?” he asked. “Yes, you do!” I replied. He headed for the kitchen. He believes everything I say. I insisted it was no problem for me to put the rest of the soup in a container. You can see my beautiful work in a photo below.
Mesón Salvador was closed Thursday for Three Kings Day. We walked over to Hotel Ilunion for coffee. They have a beautiful lobby bar and café. It’s airy and open and very comfortable, but the service in the past could sometimes leave something to be desired. Yesterday, however, we met Raul. He was a charmer and a pro. The service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. The coffee was phenomenal. It’s so good that Raul actually asked, “Isn’t this coffee excellent?” The supplier is Supra Café. If you can find it anywhere, give it a try. Rich, strong, aromatic, and very slightly sweet. Yeah, like San Geraldo. (I was going to say “like my men,” but he’s the only one that ever filled the bill.)
When we returned from coffee, Isabel was still cleaning. The cats had just finished their treats. Moose retired to the kitty condo in SG’s office and Dudo took to the one on the terrace. A few minutes later, Isabel came in in shock. She was vacuuming the kitty condo and Dudo had not moved from the top shelf. Both cats hate the vacuum cleaner and, although they love Isabel (because she gives them their treats), they don’t love her activity level, and usually take off for another room when she’s in her cleaning frenzy. We don’t know what came over Dudo. But there he stayed.
I finish with a shot of the central area of my gym after my workout today. I go at a quiet time, but there were more people than it appears. What a pleasure.

Gym: Great chest and back workout today. Our portero commented when I was on my way out that I look really fit.

SAN GERALDO NO HABÍA HECHO su sopa de lentejas durante mucho tiempo. Lo disfrutamos para cenar anoche y almorzar hoy. Por supuesto, agregó su(s) salchicha(s) para darle más sabor. La foto de arriba es el sofrito con el que comienza. Mezcló zanahorias, cebollas, apio, ajo, aceite de oliva y condimentos. Es ingenioso y delicioso.
Después del almuerzo de hoy, SG me dijo que quedaba un poco de sopa de lentejas si quería guardarla en un recipiente como guarnición para la cena. Le espeté: “Entonces, ¿ahora quieres que lave los platos y cocine?” “¿Normalmente empaco las sobras?” preguntó. “¡Sí!” respondí. Se dirigió a la cocina. Cree todo lo que digo. Insistí en que no me suponía ningún problema poner el resto de la sopa en un recipiente. Puedes ver mi hermoso trabajo en una foto a continuación.
Mesón Salvador estuvo cerrado el jueves por el Día de Reyes. Caminamos hasta el Hotel Ilunion para tomar un café. Tienen un hermoso bar y una cafetería en el vestíbulo. Es aireado, abierto y muy cómodo, pero el servicio en el pasado a veces dejaba algo que desear. Ayer, sin embargo, conocimos a Raúl. Era un encantador y un profesional. El servicio fue rápido, atento y amable. El café estuvo fenomenal. Es tan bueno que Raúl preguntó: “¿No es excelente este café?” El proveedor es Supra Café. Si puede encontrarlo en cualquier lugar, pruébelo. Rico, fuerte, aromático y muy ligeramente dulce. Sí, como San Geraldo. (Iba a decir “como mis hombres”, pero él es el único que llenó la cuenta.)
Cuando regresamos del café, Isabel todavía estaba limpiando. Los gatos acababan de terminar sus aperetivos. Moose se retiró al arbol de gatitos en la oficina de SG y Dudo se dirigió al de la terraza. Unos minutos más tarde, Isabel entró en estado de sopresa. Estaba pasando la aspiradora por el arbole de gatitos y Dudo no se había movido del estante superior. Ambos gatos odian la aspiradora y, aunque aman a Isabel (porque ella les da sus golosinas), no les encanta su nivel de actividad y, por lo general, se van a otra habitación cuando está en su frenesí de limpieza. No sabemos qué le pasó a Dudo. Pero ahí se quedó.
Termino con una foto de la zona central de mi gimnasio después de mi entrenamiento de hoy. Voy en un momento tranquilo, pero había más gente de la que parece. Qué placer.
Informe de Nutrición y Estado Físico
Estiramiento: Una vez hasta ahora hoy. Dos veces jueves. Dos veces miércoles.
Caminando: 8 km / 4.5 millas el jueves. 3 km / 2 millas hasta ahora.
Gimnasio: Gran entrenamiento de pecho y espalda hoy. Nuestro portero comentó cuando salía que me veo muy en forma.
Notas: Tarta de manzana el jueves por la mañana.
• Ilunion jueves por la mañana. Solo unas pocas personas más allí, y muy lejos de nosotros.
• Derrochamos en un delicioso y húmedo bizcocho de manzana. Raúl nos sirvió dos rebanadas a cada uno. “Son pequeños”, dijo. Un hombre conforme a nuestros corazones.
