You jerk! / ¡Bobo!

I spoke with The Kid Brother again Tuesday night. I didn’t tell him either of us had Covid. It would upset him and make him too nervous. He’s been an absolute pleasure in recent weeks. He loved my video calls from Bergen. I showed him the views from our presidential suite (which he thought was very cool). Last week, I introduced him to Cousin Ellen and her friends while we were at Mesón Salvador. He was delighted and delightful. He’s full of surprises. You can see this week’s smiles above.

He’s been at his new Rite-Aid drugstore for quite some time now and is happier than I’ve seen him for a long time. Although he has a long commute on the bus, he looks forward to work every week. It seems the manager and staff are all very good to him and appreciate his hard work. His living room cable TV box has been replaced. His mobile phone is working perfectly. And I’m currently not on the hook for anything — except paying bills — although, he’s been paying the phone bill himself for two months now. He just had his haircut (long overdue) and looked great. I told him I had just cut mine, too. He laughed and said, “You jerk.” So, I had to explain to him that I actually do buzz cut my head every few days. He commented, “Well, you need to shave off the beard. It does not look good!”

As our Aunt Sylvie said, “He’s always been better looking than [me].” When I was in my early 30s and started going to the gym regularly (I always had a home gym of some sort from around the age of 14 but didn’t have the confidence to go to a shared gym), she saw me and commented, “I didn’t recognize you. You look good…. Whatever you’re doing, you should have done it sooner.”

Pues, ¿gracias?

  1. Bald, bearded and beautiful! Bewigged and blond? Just, no! Bobo Scoot, sounds like a Star Wars character.

    1. Deedles:
I wish I had met you years ago. I love my nickname. (Scoot… although Bobo Scoot does have its charm.)

    1. Bob:
That “wig” was from a shot of Maria’s hair when it was pulled into one pony tail. Moose is back in the chair. Chuck has warmed my heart.

  2. Yay for the negative test! Glad the kid brother is doing well. Your Aunt Sylvie’s comment is hilarious! Talk about a backhanded compliment.

    1. Steve:
Aunt Sylvie was my mother’s sister through and through. She also liked to say to me, “You’re doing well, but you couldn’t be making as much money as your cousin [So-and-so]. He makes… She had two severely disabled sons and a rough life as a result. SG and I were very good to her and she would travel with my mother to visit us every year after my uncle died and both sons were in care. So, we had those two together saying those things constantly. We saved them up to laugh about them later. Otherwise, I would have cried.

  3. Great to see KB looking so good.

As for you and the blonde curls, as Aunt Sylvie would say, “Leave the curls to the cute kid.” (Just in case you were missing being dissed.) Actually, I like you just the way you are. In the lyrics sung by Shirley Bassey or Nora Jones, and on behalf of SG, “I need no soft lights to enchant me…” 🙂 I love that song.

    1. Jennifer:
When he doesn’t make me want to pull out my remaining hair, he makes my heart sing.

    1. Judy C:
Aunt Sylvie adored my sister, Dale. They were very close. I never heard her give HER a single back-handed compliment. I’ll have to gather other stories (from my head).

  4. The Kid Brother will LOVE that new look of yours!! Right!!!….
Good to hear that things are ‘tickety-boo’ with KB.
One of the few times we like to hear that things are ‘negative’ for you.
Is Spain offering that new ‘mixed/blended’ vaccine booster?…..has original variant and the first Omicron variant.

    1. Jim:
I’ll have to show that picture to Chuck. I guarantee his first words will be “Are you nuts?!?” I’ve been told Spain will be offering the fourth shot to the over 60s either this month or next.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
No problem. I borrowed it from Maria when she had her hair in a single pony tail. I’ll give it back.
