San Geraldo and I are heading together into Málaga today to see the special exhibition that was being installed at the Centre for Contemporary Art when I was there last Thursday. It opened the next day, on my birthday. He expressed an interest yesterday when I said I was going. He’s not big on walking all over the city like I do and he tends to complain about the heat. But the museum is 2 minutes from the train station and there are places for lunch all around. He’ll also get to see the Devan Shimoyama exhibit (click here). And I think he just wants to make me happy. Today’s photos are some of what I saw while I walked through town and the port Thursday.
I had my follow-up appointment with my doctor yesterday regarding my back. SG went with me. I’ll live. We’re beginning to get a better understanding about my nerve pain — which has nothing to do with age. In case you don’t know this about me, one of my major pet peeves is being told “that’s normal when you get old.” Especially since I am nowhere near old. Anyway, I’ve got an appointment next week with a specialist. I’ll fill you in. And then I’ll stop talking about my health (like an old person) and will continue talking about art, life, cats, my juvenile sense of humor, and San Geraldo.
San Geraldo y yo nos dirigimos juntos a Málaga hoy para ver la exposición especial que se estaba instalando en el Centro de Arte Contemporáneo cuando estuve allí el jueves pasado. Abrió al día siguiente, en mi cumpleaños. Expresó interés ayer cuando le dije que iría. No le gusta caminar por toda la ciudad como yo y tiende a quejarse del calor. Pero el museo está a 2 minutos de la estación de tren y hay lugares para almorzar por todas partes. También podrá ver la exhibición de Devan Shimoyama (haz clic aquí). Y creo que solo quiere hacerme feliz. Las fotos de hoy son algunas de las que vi mientras paseaba por el pueblo y el puerto el jueves.
Tuve mi cita de seguimiento con mi médico ayer con respecto a mi espalda. SG fue conmigo. Viviré. Estamos empezando a comprender mejor mi dolor nervioso, que no tiene nada que ver con la edad. En caso de que no sepas esto sobre mí, uno de mis principales manías es que me digan “eso es normal cuando envejeces”. Sobre todo porque no estoy ni cerca de ser viejo. De todos modos, tengo una cita la próxima semana con un especialista. Ya les cuento. Y luego dejo de hablar de mi salud (como un anciano) y sigo hablando de arte, vida, gatos, mi juvenil sentido del humor, y San Geraldo.

If I say something about being old, people say, “No, you act very young”. And I reply, “You mean I’m childish.”

I don’t think I’ve ever said I’m old. That day will come. I like the Spanish way: No soy viejo. Soy mayor.
Dave is like SG. He’d rather not walk if he can help it, and as you know I am a walker. I have resigned myself to doing some things on my own! But bravo to SG for going with you.
Is that last photo a hibiscus? I’ve never seen one so large, or trained into a tree form like that.

It was really special to have SG with me and it worked out great. And, yes, that is a hibiscus. They grow year-round so, unless they’re devoured by bugs, they do amazing things.
My two favorite pictures in this batch or one of the ship and the two of the church. I just adore Old Town little churches like that. And it was a sunny day what’s the complaint about?

That church is amazing. Built first in the 1500s and renovated and repaired over the next centuries. Yesterday was an even more perfect day here. And today is more of the same.
I like that alien looking sculpture! The more I hear about SG, the more I’m convinced you hit the jackpot when you met him.

Ah, sunshine and Hibiscus – probably my favourite semi-tropical flower. We had the hardy blue variety in the garden-before-last, but it’s not the same… Jx

Beautiful photos as always! Those cruise ship tourists look so excited…”are we having fun yet?!” Bet their faces won’t make it into any cruise brochures, LOL!

I can just imagine the cruiser conversations: “Where are we today? When does the bus get here? When do we have to get back? Is there anything good to buy here?”
Those pictures are certainly worth a little bit of walking.

I walk for hours, in and out of alleys, up and down the same streets. Yesterday was another great day for it.
I would hesitate to get onto a ferry that looks as if it were eating me.
