The above photo is Tuesday’s sunrise. It was worth getting out of bed for. Our friends from Colchester, Alyson and Nick, have been here all week and it’s been wonderful, as usual, and sad to part last night. San Geraldo made dinner Thursday night — pulled pork, cole slaw, apple crisp and ice cream. Amazingly, the stand-offish cats fell in love with them both. They closed their eyes and purred while they were petted. Dudo decided Nick was his new best friend and was very upset when they left. He ran to the door and meowed. I went out in the hall with him and he looked everywhere for them.
San Geraldo and I will be in London in November, so it won’t be long until we see each other again. I suggested taking the cats with us (as if). Even better, Nick and Alyson just happen to have a trip planned to New York City during the time I’ll be there in January. The Kid Brother is excited to meet them, and they him.
Fuengirola’s Feria del Rosario is over and the city will be quiet for a while. So now we’re seriously hoping for rain. When I went to bed last night, the forecast called for a 78% chance of rain. Chances now have dropped to 15%. Although I would love the rain, as long as it reaches the reservoirs I won’t mind if it doesn’t make it to us here on the coast.
I don’t know if Mesón Salvador is hosting a Halloween dinner this year. If they are, I have to decide on my look. I could go as myself in 1969 (first photo below) in a Nehru shirt and with a heavy medallion around my neck. I’d have to buy hair, too. Or I could go as a local fashionista, and buy a manbun.

Nike running shorts, one leg tucked up, it would be a little large but I have the perfect print shirt, no hair needed.
David:
You could make a man bun!
What a magnificent sunrise! Jx
PS What was it with medallions in the late 60s/early 70s? I had one that was a mock-up of a real de a ocho/piece of eight on a chain. Worn with a cheesecloth shirt. Awful – definitely worthy of Hallowe’en…
Jon:
I loved those cheesecloth shirts. Never owned one. My medallion was nothing so chic. I have no idea what was on the front. I just remember it swinging against my chest and hurting when I went at that apple… and when we played Twister that night.
You looked so mod! Remember that slang term? There is no greater compliment than being loved and accepted by someone else’s cat.
Debra:
The title started off as When I Was Mod until I thought of George Harrison. I really was more mod than fab.
You could always go as Mismatched Man on the Promenade. You got tons of photos for inspiration.
Bob:
And I know all the best (worst) shops.
What?! Is Dudo looking for a divorce!? lol
I remember when our cat, Rita, would pick out someone and become their BFF……..maybe twice in her 14 years.
Jim:
Dudo and Moose showed interest in Matt and Lindy but I think they needed to spend a few hours in the house for the playing to have started. All our hearts were warmed.
Oh, I can’t wait to see the Halloween decision and the pictures from when you go to London!
Jerry’s meal sounds like it must have been scrumptious.
Love those cats, I do, I do 🙂
Judy
Judy C:
The cats (and Nick and Alyson) made us so happy. The meal was excellent and I can’t wait for London.
The Nehru shirt and the medallion is a GREAT look! I definitely opt for that one!
Steve:
Still haven’t heard anything from Mesón Salvador.
I wish I could go to London. As others are suggesting, just wear mismatched plaids with one shorts leg pushed up. You’ll be an ordinary person.
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug:
I have snuck and shared photos of Mesón Salvador patrons and their “interesting” combinations. It might be awkward.
That sunrise is beautiful. And Mitchell! I had the exact same Nehru shirt! A blast from the past when I saw that photo and I instantly remembered that shirt.
mcpersonalspace54:
I love that! We were both mod!
Mod…another word from that era!
The Nehru shirt a medallion would be a good costume, but I think a drag Flamenco dress would be even better, LOL! Just think of the wig possibilities….
Tundra Bunny:
Now THAT would be fun.
Brilliant sunrise, as usual! I’m slowly catching up with blog reading after a week away.
Walt the Fourth:
I’m glad things seem to have settled down once you found your way there.
You look groovy in that first picture.
Kirk:
It was a gas. What a bummer that I don’t have those clothes anymore.
The George Harrison allusion in your blog title didn’t miss me (at least!) – unlike Dudo to ‘his’ Nick.
‘Anon’ is me, Raybeard!
Raybeard:
Thanks for not missing that. I had started with “When I Was Mod“ but thought of George.
I wasn’t entirely sure that you’d meant it, Mitch. Pleased to learn that you had.
And to think all that Mod somehow morphed into Hippie/Freak.
Frank:
And I went through that phase, too.
Cats are always full of surprises, aren’t they?
I like your costume idea! You should go for it!
Jennifer
Jennifer:
No one would recognize me if I wore a wig.
The cats made our hearts sing with Nick and Alyson.
I would always get up in time to see that lovely sunrise.
Urspo:
Some mornings, I see it from bed and am too sleepy to bother.
