Linda and Tom headed off to Vienna yesterday to meet up with their younger son, Matt, and his wife, Lindy. Matt and Lindy are our favorite second-oldest nephew and niece-in-law. We had four great days with Linda and Tom here in Spain. They had breakfast every morning at Mesón Salvador and were treated like family. We had our farewell (until next time) dinner there Thursday night.
Wednesday evening, we took the train into Málaga to see the lights. I plan to go back, now that my right foot is quite a bit better, to catch the displays in other parts of the city. Our visit was to Calle Larios, the main pedestrian shopping street in the center of the old city. They have shows three times a night beginning at 6:30. We caught that early show and then went for dinner before heading home.
Thursday, we drove to Plaza Mayor where Jerry and Tom sat at Starbucks while Linda and I shopped. Linda likes to browse more than buy, but she did pick up a couple of things she and Tom needed. I like to shop more than browse. I needed nothing. So I bought cologne, a light quilted jacked, and a sweater. I’ll share my treasures another day.
No necesitaba nada. Así que compré colonia, una chaqueta acolchada ligera, y un suéter. Compartiré mis tesoros otro día.

“Healthy Poke” — LOL!
Great photos of the lights, and I like the video — mainly because of all the other dozens of cell phones visible at the bottom of the screen, also making videos. We live in a very well-documented time, don’t we?!
Steve:
I tried to keep the camera up above the crowd. After the fact I realized I should have included all of them and their cameras.
Very fond memories, the hotel we stayed in was only a block from the brew-pub.
David:
I think of you every time I walk by there now.
Lunch next month, then in May.
David:
Yay!!!
Wonderful parade of angels! What a great Christmas display. The people in the crowd look quite serious though.
Anon:
The serious crowd was waiting for things to start. Everyone was much less serious after that.
Love the parade of beautiful angels!
Debra:
Málaga really does an exceptional job with the lights.
Let the festivities begin! What beautiful lights!
Jim:
I look forward to this every year.
Wow! They do it up right there! What a gorgeous show of light display. I would definitely have gone to get a Poke with you. Nothing wrong with a good microbrewery though.

Ms. Moon:
The “healthy poke“ place doesn’t really look all that inviting. I just love the sign. La Fabrica is excellent.
I love the lights and love a healthy poke … and I mean, po-kay!
Bob:
Do you REALLY Mean Po-KAY?
Okay, maybe Poke two ways.
Those lights are absolutely beautiful. Your photos/video puts me in the holiday spirit!
mcpersonalspace54:
Those lights always get me in the holiday spirit.
Oh I’m so jealous I went off to Vienna. I love Vienna when I went and I hope to go back at sometime at Christmas to see it.
Now…about that healthy poke……
Mistress Borghese:
I’ve never been to Vienna, but would love to visit. However, it’s seriously cold and snowy there right now.
I’m trying to figure out what “Riders Welcome” means. Any ideas?
Beautiful! I was just showing the 2022 Malaga lights video to my students, this week 🙂
Judy C:
Now you have 2023 to share!
You put your right foot in
You take your right foot out
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about
You do the hokey po-KAY
And you turn yourself around
That’s what it’s all about
Kirk:
So, a healthy poke is what it’s all about!
Beautiful light display with fun musical accompaniment! I would pick a microbrewery over a poke any day in the week.
Kelly:
The poke place is a small counter for take-away. La Fabrica is much more pleasant. And they have tapas, too!
Malaga’s Christmas light displays are always wonderful — and well worth photographing.
My tip for December: never po-kay a sleeping bear!
Tundra Bunny:
I suppose you should wake up the bear first.
The Microbrewery looks fabulous!
Sassybear:
It’s a great, fun place. Can be a bit loud (and was that day… the terrace was mobbed). It’s a really good choice when you’ve got picky eaters who don’t like Spanish food. They’ve got great tapas but also loads of American style food.
