I hope the title has you all singing like Carol King (or James Taylor). We were a bit down Monday and San Geraldo suggested we go for dinner at Mesón Salvador. That did the trick. What a great team of kind, friendly, and funny people. We had a joyful and relaxing meal. We forgot any troubles for a couple of hours and we were treated like family (and royalty). Dinner was exceptional, as usual.
San Geraldo baked apple crisp the other day and we’ve been indulging daily, so we decided to forego dessert, which really disappointed Adrian. In its place, Adrian said he would mix up a couple of special chupitos (after-dinner shots) although he corrected himself and called them chupicopas (a combination of a chupito and a cocktail). He worked a long time on our chupicopas and told me when he finished that, if we loved them, he made them. If we didn’t love them, Manu made them. Well, we’d both like to thank Adrian (and Manu) for shaking it for us. San Geraldo just about licked out the inside of the glass. Adrian helped us both finish things off. We left home moping and came home smiling.
Zumbral. A Málaga wine I adore. Adrian reminded me I hadn’t had it in a very long time.
Zumbral. Un vino Málaga que me encanta. Adrian me recordó que no lo había tenido en mucho tiempo.
I always love reading about your trips to Meson Salvador! The food always looks spectacular, and the staff are pretty easy on the eyes, too! 🙂
How is the Kid Brother doing? I’ve been meaning to send him a card or a postcard and have just been very busy. I plan to buy holiday cards this weekend and send them out, and I’ll make sure he’s top of the list. I think of him often.
Jennifer:
The visits are so uplifting. The food is excellent but my photos of it lately haven’t been up to par. The Kid Brother is doing exceptionally well. He’s enjoying work. He’s bowling every weekend. He bowled a 170 one week and a 93 the next! Thanks so much for thinking of him. This time next month I’ll be with him.
I love that photo of you two at the top of your post. The two of you have pure joy on your faces. I guess a trip to the restaurant is exactly what the doctor ordered!
mcpersonalspace54:
I love that photo, too. Wish I had trimmed my beard and shaved my head, but what the hell. Seeing SG like that makes me smile every time.
It makes me smile too. And the both of you look great!
mcpersonalspace54:
I’m grateful for your less critical eye.
I didn’t even noticed the beard or lack of a shaved head. Like I said, the two of you look great!
Pampering was just what was needed! Those special drinks look amazing. And what a beautiful rich colour that wine has. Glad your spirits were lifted!
Debra:
If you like raisins, you’d love Zumbral. An exceptional Málaga wine. Looking at the photos lifts my spirits, too.
The cocktail is worth the price if only for watching Adrian and Manu do their dance.
i’ll be smiling at that all day!
Bob:
I loved that. I have a video of Adrián dancing top reggaeton I think. I’ll have to find it.
I think they really like you two! Sweet!
Happy it did the trick.
Jim:
And the nice thing is they tell us so!
Very fond memories of Mason Salvador, fun memories to make in the future.
David:
Such a great place and group of people. Glad you got to experience it.
This sounds like a great rx! They really like you there, such a welcome. Beautiful food and wine too, doesn’t hurt.
Anon:
Always what the doctor ordered.
This reminded me so much of restaurants in Cozumel. The servers are always so sweet and funny and, well…kind.
And now I’ve teared up. Thank you for sharing these pictures, for sharing your experience, for being the sort of men for whom people feel such affection.
And that picture of the sea with its silvers and golds is riches, personified.

Ms. Moon:
We often forget how lucky we are to live here and be surrounded by so much beauty and kindness.
Adrian could spoon feed anything he wanted!!!!! He and I also have the same glasses, well mine are readers actually.. and the last photo is a stunner Mitch!
Mistress Borghese:
Adrian usually wears contacts. He’s got beautiful hazel-to-green eyes. And he’s very funny.
I totally missed the Carol King/James Taylor reference went to the theme of the sitcom Cheers.
Shirley:
I’m stunned. You usually don’t miss things like that. But now I have the Cheers theme song playing in my head… over and over and over again!
If I ever make it to your part of the world (not likely at this point in my life), I’ll know all the right places to go!! That first photo is such fun!
Kelly:
We’re no longer the types to want to try out all the “in” places. We look for good food and great staff. We stumbled on Mesón Salvador when we were looking for a place to live and ended up living a 3-minute walk from there. It immediately became our second home.
What a delightful antidote for low spirits! And I wouldn’t object to finding Adrian under my Xmas tree — rowrrr!
Tundra Bunny.
I’ll tell Adrian. He’s currently single.
So glad you live near such a lovely restaurant filled with lovely people who can lift your spirits when you need it!
Anon:
Very lucky!
It looks like such a joyful evening!
Shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake, shake
Shake your booty
Skake your booty!

Jon:
And they look so much better than KC (and his Sunshine Band).
Twist and shout!
Walt the Fourth:
To think even their parents are too young to know that song!
Adrian’s got some moves! I love that top photo. Glad you guys got out and had a fun evening with friends.
Steve:
I have to fish out the video I made of Adrián dancing to reggaeton some years back (at least I THINK it was reggaeton). That picture of us makes me smile every time I look at it.
Steve:
Yes, Adrian can definitely move. We’ve been so busy with visiting friends and family and they’ve all suddenly gone, which I think added to our alone-ness. The guys at Mesón Salvador saved us.
