As our niece moaned at the age of 9 when she returned to San Diego from a day in Mexico with a case of Montezuma’s revenge… (She didn’t drink the water but she used it to rinse her mouth after having ribs for lunch.) As she said once we were home: “I’m not well!” And, although I don’t say it with a charming English accent, I’m not well either.
My digestive system felt off yesterday. We had dinner with 5-year-old Maria and her parents, Alfonso and Cristina, who are visiting from Madrid. During the night I felt worse. I finally threw up at around 9:00. I’m considerably better now in the early afternoon, but I’m weak and feeling sorry for myself. I just slept for a couple of hours.
San Geraldo went out with the family for coffee. I’m jealous. On my request, before he met them, he picked up some chamomile and anise tea for me. I’m sipping that right now. I just opened a package of digestive biscuits. I’m still not completely confident. So, that’s it for me today. Please feel sorry for me. I’m pathetic.
Todavía no estoy completamente seguro. Así que eso es todo para mí hoy. Por favor, siente lástima por mí. Soy patético
Sure looked good, that dessert!!!! Montezuma’s revenge is putting it mildly if one drinks water or seems to even touch it in Mexico. Only bottled water if orally taken or used. My friend Hedda did the same once and couldn’t get a divorce for three straight days from the porcelain Throne God!!!!!
Mistress Borghese,
I’m grateful this only lasted a day and then a day in bed for recovery.
Saw the post title and thought, God I love that song, and then you put up a video??? Makes me feel fabulous.
Now, you need to take care of yourself. Enough puking and tripping and stabbing and falling. You hear me?!?!?
Bob,
From your mouth to the goddess’s ear!
Hey, every little bit of ‘feel sorry for me’ always helps! It always did/does for me! lol
Your immune system is probably in high gear and will look after you, the way it should.
Take care.
Jim,
A day sick, a day of recovery. Taking it easy today, but out of the house!
Boud here with the requested sympathy, you poor thing! Get well soon.
Boud,
I was so pathetic. The worst lasted one day. Doing so much better.
Oh poor baby! Feel free to moan and whine as much as you like.
Wickedhamster,
Doom, despair, agony on me. Better today!
I hope the tea and digestive biscuits do the trick and you will feel better soon!
Debra,
All I needed was the day. One awful day. One for recovery.
Scoot, you’re pathetic and I feel sorry for you! So says the pitiful critter with barf buckets in her bathrooms, bedrooms and livingroom (next to her ejector chair). You just never know you’ll be hit with an involuntary protein spill while sitting on the toilet. I said SITTING! Chamomile sounds nice but you lost me with anise. Take care and listen to Bob.
Deedles,
I understand perfectly the sitting part. That’s where I was the first time! I love anise. This particular brand of tea is too weak in the anise.
I’m down on anise, groaning.
It may not be as risky as Mexico, but one needs to be a little wary of hygiene standards in Spain sometimes, too… An expat friend of ours (who’s now back in the UK) warned us to always wipe the tops of bottles, cans and even glasses before drinking out of them – for you never know quite where they are stored. We’ve done so ever since, both in Spain and back home and, touch wood, we’ve been OK.
Cheer up, dear, this sort of thing’s usually gone in a day or so! Jx
Jon,
Nothing at all like Mexico. Tap water was to be avoided at all costs. Here, it’s like anywhere else. You never know who touched what before you.
Oooooh, you must feel rough if you are off your feed! I blame the stress of sick cats, foot surgery, red saharan dust. Stay hydrated. Stay away from railroad tracks – who knows when the double E is going to come along.
Wilma,
Uf! It was a rough day. But after a day of recovery life looks better.
Oh dear, what next? Take care, the cats need you.
David,
I avoid asking “what’s next?” at all times.
I do feel sorry for you and think you deserve any pity party you want to throw. I’ll even come to the party since I’m having similar (but not identical) problems.
Kelly,
So sorry you’re having problems, too. The worst of mine lasted one day. Hope that’s the case for you!
Gastric problems are just so enervating for both mind and body. Any idea what caused this nasty little demon to take up residence in your belly? I hope that all will be better by tomorrow and that you will have a splendid appetite for food and life once again.
Maria is a darling girl with just the right amount of the devil in her eye. I’d love to introduce her to a grandson or two of mine.
Ms. Moon
MsMaryMoon,
No idea what caused it but the worst was one day. Yesterday was mostly recovery. Today I’m actually out of the house for a little bit. Maria definitely has a spark! I adore her.
I am so sorry to read this. You have a right to feel sorry for yourself. Upset stomachs are the absolute worst. I hope this finds you feeling better.
Mcpersonalspace54,
It was the pits. But it was a very quick time in the pits.
Get better soon, Mitch!
Anon is Jan from Perth…
Jan from Perth,
Doing so much better. It was word from you!
Lipton’s strawberry tea always makes my upset tummy feel better, but I don’t know if that brand is sold in Spain. The main thing is to stay hydrated and remember that this too shall pass, LOL!
Tundra Bunny,
Fruity teas have never been my cuppa. But I might give it a try next time. I think Lipton is available here. And his too HAS passed (touch wood).
I hate when that happens. Feel better!
Walt the Fourth,
I’m glad it’s a rare occurrence.
Aww, sorry to hear this. Hope you are starting to feel better. Olivia
Olivia,
Yesterday was a day of recovery today is a day to face the world again!
I’m sorry. Get well soon.
Kirk,
Thanks. Doing much better!
Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better by now! Food poisoning, do you think? Or virus?
Ohhh, that is one of the worst feelings. I’m so glad you’re doing much better already!
Judy
Judy:
It was miserable, but brief.
Tut you don’t need tea you need pampering. Get SG to do your will in all things.
Urspo:
SG already does my will in all things. He couldn’t be more attentive.
