Toy Boy & Muddy Waters

THE SINGER TODAY, MUDDY WATERS, and the song title, “Blow Wind Blow,” sum up the weather here. More Sahara sand is expected to blow in over the next couple of days along with more rain, which means more mud. But sometimes it can be nice to get a little dirty.

And that brings me to Toy Boy. San Geraldo and I just began watching Season 1 of the two seasons of Toy Boy, a Spanish crime series that revolves around a group of male strippers. Although we do have to ignore plot and character inconsistencies, it’s entertaining and the storyline is quirky and interesting. Besides that, as you can see by the two still images I’ve shared, there’s eye candy — not that that matters.

When I was out walking a few weeks back, I noticed a new and already closed nightclub, Inferno, on the Paseo. The space had sat empty for years and I was surprised by how quickly the new club had come and gone. Well, it turns out that was simply the backdrop for the nightclub on the show, which is supposedly located in Marbella and not Fuengirola.

I walked back over yesterday to get some shots of the sign, but it had been removed. Still, if you watch the show, you’ll recognize some of the sights I included below. The stories range from Málaga Capital to Marbella. But most of the outdoor scenes were shot right here on the Paseo in Fuengirola, which is about half-way between the two.

• The former “Inferno,” adjoining the Hotel Occidental Fuengirola.
• El antiguo “Infierno”, anexo al Hotel Occidental Fuengirola.
• Opposite “Inferno” where an early scene takes place.
• Port of Fuengirola, the backdrop for many scenes.
• Puerto de Fuengirola, escenario de muchas escenas.
• Where Hugo (center below) docks his boat. If you ask me, Hugo could dock his boat anywhere he likes.
• And speaking of muddy waters, our pool Sunday afternoon.

It’s why we watch, like reading Playboy for the articles. Honestly though, the storyline is entertaining — even without the strippers.

  1. Debra nailed it! We all need a little intellectual stimulation.
The sea is rocking’ and rollin’ here today, too. I took some short videos until the sea spray drove me back inside.

    1. Wilma:
Dreary here again this morning with the muddy rain to return in a few hours.

SG and I only watch intellectually stimulating shows.

  2. I was quite disappointed as the titillating title suggested you and SG were getting a third pet to add to Moose and Dudo to keep them company etc.

  3. Even here clubs and go-go boy bars come and go quickly anymore, here and in NYC. The day of the “big house club” is over and if any, are barely hanging on. Which is one reason why so many drag queens have an issue with finding gigs for a regular weekly shows. Not many venues, and a huge saturation of queens. I still enjoy dancing in a big club but seem to enjoy the swanky lounge or pub now, since there are more of them. When I gave up drag regularly, my spot was filled very quickly.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
I’m sorry I missed the filming here in town. We’ve have one drag bar here in town that only opens Friday nights. I still haven’t been there.

    1. Jon:
Apparently Season 2 offers a bit more “exposure.” Season 1 is fun but fairly tame.

  4. Well THAT was an eye-catching photo to start your post with! I’ve never heard of this series. I wonder if we can get it here?

  5. Are they asking you to stay out of the pool? I wonder what effect all that sand will have on the filtering system.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
No one has to ask me. The outside temperature is low 60s and we used to keep our Palm Springs pool heated to 86F in winter. I, too, wonder what effects the sand/mud will have on the filtering system.

  6. “Besides that, as you can see by the two still images I’ve shared, there’s eye candy — not that that matters.” I get it. I only watched “Magic Mike” and “Magic Mike XXL” for the dancing and only saw “Naked Boys Singing” for the music. *smirk*

    1. Sassybear:
We didn’t see Magic Mike (should have). XXL, we did see (shouldn’t have). Still enjoying Toy Boy (but there actually IS a who-dunnit) and it’s suppposed to get friskier next season!

    1. Jim:
So far, everything we’ve seen was shot before they replaced all the tamarind trees. I can‘t believe I missed all the filming.
