Purpose and fried brie / Propósito y queso frito

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

I managed to get out for a 35-minute walk in yesterday’s 35˚C (95˚F) heat. Again, I could have done more, but I’m being careful to not push it.

I see the doctor again tomorrow and am not expecting another good news visit. I made the mistake of checking the results of Friday’s lab work online, and those numbers in the thousands that had gone down dramatically last time, have climbed up this time. Not by much, but it’s the wrong direction and I just have to say it pisses me off.

It’s cloudy right now. The sun will be back this afternoon, and it’s expected to be a bit cooler than yesterday. We had a wonderful dinner with friends from Glasgow, Maureen and Connor. Two exceptional individuals. Maureen is commonly known as Connor’s Mum. But we had the pleasure of an evening with Maureen and Maureen’s Son.

You might remember Connor as our friend who kept us waiting and then apologized by saying “Having hair is hard.” And he lived to see another day. They were late the other night and Maureen texted as they left their apartment: “Connor fixing hair.” He insists that wasn’t true. They’re both worth the wait.

Our friends from Colchester, Nick and Alyson, are in the air right now making their way here for the week. So, it will be a very good week. Wishing you the same.

  1. Boud, saying: what great friends you have! They sound like a lot of fun. Good luck on the checkup, though if you can walk in that heat, you’re doing okay.

    1. Boud:
I do have to stop and appreciate that I can still do that level of walking without stopping to sit on a bench. One of these days, it will be even better.

    1. Debra:
Friends have made all the difference. Not sweating the visit at all anymore.

  2. It’s nice to start the week with cute little Moose and Dudo pictures after the day we had yesterday here.

Hope all goes well at the Docs. Now turn your head and cough please.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
I’ll turn my head and cough if you send someone over to hold something while I do.

  3. Relax and have a great week, a nice walk, a little time on the beach, and love from the cats, SG, and all of us.

    1. David:
Thanks for the love. Having Connor and Maureen and now Nick and Alyson here has made all the difference.

  4. Enjoy the guests, enjoy serving the boys, and relax about the doctor’s visit.
I mean that walk in the heat? I have tried to get someone to bring my car closer to the back door of our offices and leave it running with the AC on so I don’t have to walk a few hundred feet in the heat!

    1. Bob:
I did another walk yesterday morning and am about to head out now. I finally took a moment to appreciate that fact. When we lived in the Northeast, SG used to have me go out in winter and get the car all warm inside before he’d come out.

  5. I’m sorry but that would be too hot for me to walk. I try very hard to get out before it hits 90. What’s the humidity like there?
Yes. Worth the five minutes to get to where love is love.
Yoga lady is certainly good at yoga-ing.
Now. About those numbers- well hell. But things take time. As you know. I hope the doctor visit makes you feel better about things.
I am sure that cats truly believe humans are their invention, created solely to take care of their needs.

When we arrived in Spain in 2011, it was 104 degrees and humid in Sevilla and I went walking for hours every day. I don’t know how I did it. I’m doing great this morning and looking forward to seeing the doctor this afternoon.

  6. Wishing you all the bet with the doc.

I’d never even HEARD of fried brie until yesterday – and now hear it is again!

    Lovely pics of D & M!

    1. Raybeard:
Oooooh, fried brie, fried camembert. Very popular here. There was a place in Sevilla that served it with tomato marmalade. I had no idea, it was so delicious. SG used to serve baked brie (wrapped in pastry).

    1. Michael:
The fried brie is one of my favorite snacks at Mesón Salvador. Looking forward to the doctor in a few hours.

      1. Good luck at the doctor’s office. As I write this comment, you’ve already been there. I am hoping for good news for you.

  7. You must not have high humidity there. That’s a long time to walk in 95 degree weather! And there’s that dang girl showing off again. 🙄

I hope you can get all the health stuff sorted out. Meanwhile, enjoy being with your friends (and existing solely for your kitties)!

    1. Kelly:
Humidity has been high recently. I think it was around 80 percent that day. Currently only 49 percent and significantly cooler (I think only making it to the mid- to high-80s today).

  8. I can’t be the only one who misread that title and thought you were eating porpoise with cheese?! Jx

PS Nice to find a gay beach – or at least a gay beach towel – in Fuengirola! I thought you’d need to go all the way to Torremolinos for that sort of thing.

    1. Jon:
You were not the only one. And even I read it that way after I posted! Sadly, not a gay beach but at least a gay towel.

  9. May you get and stay in perfect health.
Sounds like Connor needs to go bald. Then, no more excuses. Sheesh.

    1. Tundra Bunny:
I do worry about Connor’s hairline. But he’d probably do something about it. Or maybe not. I used to have a huge mop of hair that I devoted some attention to — although never as much as Connor spends on his.

    1. Jim:
Got it off my chest and have been doing fine. Going in a couple of hours.

  10. The fried brie with blueberry jam looks yummy. Is your 95 degrees like my 95 degrees, meaning it feels like 105? Be careful in the heat, Scooter.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. Janiejunebug:
It was 80 percent humidity that day, which is nothing like you experience, and not very common here.

  11. Your next car really looks like fun! No worries, Scoot, Dudo & Moose will keep you on your toes, LOL!

    1. Tundra Bunny:
Although San Geraldo has been saintly about feeding the cats so I don’t have to wake up, Moose does manage sometimes to get me out of bed. Good for him!

  12. I don’t know if it was the photos of the sea, but I read “Porpoise and Fried Brie.” Hmmm, might be interesting. Enjoy your friends’ visits!

    1. Walt the Fourth:
You weren’t the only one. Jon in London said the same. And even I did it immediately after I posted.

  13. Fried cheese, yummm! I love the pictures, and am sending good thoughts for the doctor visit.

    1. J Chabot:
There’s often fried camambert, too. And the jams! In Sevilla, one restaurant served tomato jam that was unrecognizable and so delicious.

  14. Sorry I am somewhat (very) late.
Of course I had to read a post about CHEESE ! I like it but I do not eat very much…. Brie is one of my favorites !
The Kitties are so Fabulous as always !
    woof woof

    1. Anon:
I don’t know for sure who’s barking at me… I LOVE cheese, and brie is one of my many favorites.
