San Geraldo and I have sampled (i.e., devoured) all three new-to-us flavors of Irma la Douce (Ines Rosales tortas) and we are in complete agreement that our favorite flavor is the original. I liked the orange and lemon, but not as much. And the cinnamon, although tasty, lost the essence of Ines Rosales (IMHO). If I come across the ginger flavor, I’ll give it a try, just because I love ginger.
Over the years, I have bought Dudo and Moose a lot of toys. Mostly for Dudo, really. Moose doesn’t play as much or as long (usually). Despite all the textured, twirly, feathery, catnipped toys available, however, Dudo’s favorite toy is paper and, especially, tissue paper. We’ve recently had packing paper from a variety of packages that were delivered and I’ve spread it around the house. I might actually be wasteful and buy a package of tissue paper because that’s by far his favorite. He loves to attack it and make it loft in the air. I throw it away once he starts to shred it.
I try to keep the cats stimulated by playing with them often. They love to go out to the hall with me where they can explore new sights and smells. Dudo sometimes waits at the door for me to go out with him. Moose usually follows once we’re out.
Moose, who early on was more standoffish than Dudo, is now the most loving and affectionate cat. He meows when we enter a room and we’re expected to drop everything and cuddle. He loves for me to rest my head on him and to rub my face against his. Dudo suddenly loves when I run my fingers the length of his back, something he always walked away from. They’ll be 14 in less than 2 months and they still surprise us. I have the best of it, too. San Geraldo cleans the litterbox, gets up early in the morning to feed them, and cleans up most of their messes. I have to avoid germs, you know. It’s quite convenient.
Our new terrace furniture arrives today and I’m so excited. Other than that, I have to walk over to the offices that take care of the city resident registration to check on our status, and I have to walk over and pay the balance on our terrace windows. Laundry is overdue. I was lazy over the weekend. Maybe I’ll even be inspired to hang some art in the bedroom, in the hall between our bedroom and SG’s office, and a couple of other spots. My closet is filled with unhung art and a shelf in the bedroom closet is filled with family photos. We’ve been here 7 months. I’ve never taken this long to get things up. I’m spending too much time riding my mood swings.

I love the picture gallery of the cats. They’re very expressive and I’m starting to know who’s who.

Boud:
Moose is stocky and square faced. He has more black all over and on his face, with less white between the eyes and an entire Zorro mask as opposed to Dudo’s black eyeliner.
7 months, it seems like just yesterday you were moving. If you find the T-shirt that says, “Who rescued Whom?” you should wear it.
David:
I’m so glad they had each other before we found them. 11 months in a little cage in a miserable shelter.
Life is never dull with cats!
Debra:
And sleep is never plentiful!
Kitty porn!!!
Don’t The Boys try to samper down the stairs when you take them into the hall, or is it closed off? I know a couple of our would have run!!
And you and SG divide the cat chores the way Carlos and I do; he feeds them and cleans the litter boxes and I love on them!

Bob:
I sit on the stairs going up and monitor them. Yes, they would take the stairs. Moose did several years ago in Fuengirola and then in a panic ran to the closed door of our downstairs neighbors having no clue it wasn’t our door (didn’t even notice that our entry hall jungle was absent nor that the door was a completely different color and style… and vintage). Never again. Yeah, SG cleans and mostly feeds. I play!
I love the playing paper. I don’t think you’d finish off the environment if you got a pack of tissue paper for Dudo.
I woke up this morning wondering if you’d gotten your terrace furniture yet. I’m excited to see it. I imagine you are too.
MM
Ms.Moon:
Yeah, I don’t think the tissue paper will be the end of the world. Furniture is here and more to come. We’re happy!
Your best feline all-in-one-place selection posting yet. Now I’ve got to ‘save’ the lot of ’em. Oh well, it’s got to be done!
Raybeard:
Anything to make you happy!

David:
That says it all!
Your post reminded me of the simple pleasures in having a pet in the house. They give back so much. I think I am going to take Shirley out in the backyard and do some ball tosses!
This wins “blog post of the day”. Wonderful photos of the kitties! It’s hard to believe they are almost 14!
Kelly:
I know! They were born at the time we arrived in Spain (can’t believe that’s been 14 years either).
Oh yes!
The furniture deliveries are always super annoying. Ugh. Hopefully you’ll be done now.
And I don’t have pets but I do believe that they need to be well, entertained. Especially kitties.
XOXO

Oh, we’ll probably never be done. But it’s fun and we’re happy with the furniture.
That one picture should be captioned, “This hallway ain’t big enough for the both of us!”
Kirk:
That’s exactly what I thought!
That’s one fucking surprised cat lol
finlaygray:
He was wondering if I was about to play.
Dudo looks ‘wired for sound’ !!….in 1st pic.
Great photos of the cats.
Jim:
Dudo is often wired for sound. In a moment, he was off to the races.
My sister’s cat adored crinkly mylar wrap from gift baskets, so Dudo’s attraction to tissue paper is understandable. The photo of Moose and Dudo in the hallway really made me LOL — they look like they’re squaring off for a shootout at the OK Corral!!
Tundra Bunny:
That’s exactly what the hallway encounter looked like to me. I really wish I had video going. Dudo ran at Moose and I thought it would be war, but it was simply acrobatics. He flies through the air with the greatest of ease.
They sure are a couple of cuties! I’m assuming it’s Dudo with the mischief in his eyes.
Walt the Fourth:
Yes, it’s always Dudo. He still hides behind furniture to scare Moose, and he still has the screaming meemies where he sprints all around the apartment.
I am feeding my son’s family cat( black and white) over this coming weekend. I visited to find out what I need to do, and he looked at me with great suspicion when I arrived ( the cat not the son!!) but after a while he came to be stroked. Perhaps I should take some tissue paper with me?
Frances
Frances:
Oh, the expressiveness of some cats. Moose is not much interested in the paper. We had another cat that loved plain paper rolled up into little balls.
Let’s see if I can post today… yesterday, I got some weird message about too many submissions?? I was on my iPad, so that was probably the reason.
I love the cats. Your comment to Walt about Dudo having the screaming meemies and sprinting all over the house, was a good one to give me a chuckle.
Judy,
Yes, as I mentioned, people are just swarming my website and overwhelming it! Some day I’ll catch Dudo’ insanity on video. But when he sees the camera he stops.
Cats are crazy creatures – a (now late, dearly departed) friend had one that must have thought it was a dog, because it would happily play “fetch”, and bring the item thrown back to whoever threw it for another go! He would also go completely nuts trying to “catch” the light from a laser pen. Hours of fun… Jx
Jon,
Dudo fetches and so did our cat Dobie, in the States. SG saw me throw a toy mouse down the stairs and shout Fetch! I was new to cats. SG laughed and said, He’s not a dog, Mitchell. Cats don’t fetch. Just then Dobie trotted up the stairs and dropped the toy at me feet and sat and waited for me to throw it again.
