MY PAL LUKE’S mother, Kathleen, is expecting her second bundle of joy any day now. At dinner the other night, San Geraldo and I both got to feel the baby kick.
When we said goodnight out on the street, San Geraldo compared bellies with Kathleen. Luke laughed. Then San Geraldo told him, “I’m having a baby, too.” I wish I had had my camera ready to capture the stunned look on that 3-1/2-year-old face.” Just when he thought he had it all figured out.
.

.
In that third picture, the mother looks a bit stunned, too.
Kirk,
Kathleen looks to me like an SNL character in that photo. I think Jerry said something shocking. And if it could shock Kathleen, it was truly shocking.
Awwwwww! I get phantom kicks sometimes. Turns out it’s just gas. S.G. has huge hands! That little Luke is just the cutest thing. He reminds me of somebody but I can’t put my finger on who.
Deedles,
I was going to comment on how huge Kathleen’s belly is and how SG’s hand makes it look small. As you know, I adore Luke. Simply the sweetest!
Have you ever drawn San Geraldo’s hands? You certainly wouldn’t have to squint to see them! A big man should definitely have big …hands.
Deedles:
I haven’t. But, everyone would probably say they were unrealistic anyway!
kathleen looks ready to burst!
I get no kick from champagne, mere alcohol doesn’t thrill me at all
This is one of my all time favorite movies, Carebear! It loses so much when they pc it up for regular t.v.
Deedles,
I agree. Classic in its original form.
Anne Marie,
I love the song from Blazing Saddles. Almost used it instead of Louis. Wish they had done a complete version.
could NEVER make a movie like this today. one of my all-time fave movies too!
Oh, how cute! San Geraldo is too funny! And little Luke is going to be a big brother, huh? He’s going to need extra attention from his uncles when the new baby comes. What fun for you two!
Jennifer,
We are all trying to prepare Luke. His comments are comical. Any minute now, life will change.
I am certain Luke will figure it out! lol MAybe SG will have sympathetic labour pains as well?
Jim,
Sym-Pathetic labor is something Jerry WOULD experience. We did tell Luke it was a joke. He wants to know how long they’ll be keeping the baby.
What a loverly bunch of coconuts, youse peeps are!!
Ron,
Jerry and I both laughed at your comment. That’s us!
Now Luke probably thinks pregnancy is something you catch….I guess you’ll have to explain that to him.
Cheapchick,
We did tell him it was a joke but he still has no clue what’s coming… just like most first-time parents.
Babies kick to get strange men to stop touching their mom.
Mind blown! Top ten questions science can’t answer, but I did.
Adam,
The kick scares the strange men.
I wrote an essay once that started with, “first it invades your body, then your life, then you home, and none of them will ever be the same again” describing children.
David,
And so many first-time parents have no idea what they’re in for.
So Adorable Happy !
What i liked (?) when I slept the baby would move over to the side. So I would be really big on that side and kinda’ flat on the other side. All you had to do was tap the baby (i would say Hello) and all of a sudden a earthquake of baby would move around and get back. I always had big babies and I was ready for the birth by then.

Parsnip:
Yeah, Kathleen is definitely ready. All is going well. We keep waiting for the call. It sounds like your kids were cooperative even before they were born!
