Moons, signs, and sisters / Lunas, carteles, y hermanas

I never left the house Saturday. I never did iron either. Today is another day. I’m trying to climb out of the hole SCOTUS is digging.

San Geraldo and I decided to start watching the first season of The Umbrella Academy. We’ve seen three episodes and are finding it interesting. I’m not sure if I’m hooked.

I still haven’t started my online yoga. I mistakenly threw out the slip of paper where I had written the URL that was recommended to me. Wilma kindly shared her favorite. If I can’t find mine, I might check hers out. Just to get started.

I’m still in that frame of mind where if I’m not active, I’m depressed. And, since I wore myself out with activity Wednesday and Thursday, my lower activity level Friday and Saturday wasn’t helping. But, in the greater scheme of things, I’m better than fine and am about to head out for a long walk this morning. So, take a walk with me and see what I’ve seen lately.

.

No estoy seguro si estoy enganchado.

Todavía no he comenzado mi yoga en línea.

• A cool new sign on the Paseo. Only trouble is, I want to polish it.
• Un nuevo letrero genial en el Paseo. El único problema es que quiero pulirlo.
• Do you see her mooning the lifeguard?!?
A green flag means it’s safe for swimming. The other flag warns of jellyfish. You won’t get ME in the water!
• My mother and her sisters descending on the beach. Actually there were only 6 of them. But the effect was the same. (This group had arrived for an exercise class.)
• A thriving succulent on the terrace.
• Una floreciente suculenta en la terraza.
• Our desert roses. Happy as long as I systemically attack the insects once a week.
• Moose. Saturday, 9:00.
• Moose. El sábado, 9:00.
• Moose. Sunday, 9:00.
• Moose. El domingo, 9:00.

  1. lol Moose likes his routine I see. He appears to be more a ‘typical male’ than Dudo.
I like that sign as well. I am sure they wouldn’t mind if you gave it a s-wipe or two.

  2. Chuckle Time with Dudo ~ cats make me smile ~ we started The Umbrella Academy last year because we’ve know Elliot Page’s Mom Dad and Step Mom for quite a few years. We usually look at any of Elliot’s pieces of work and usually enjoy them. However, U.A. just didn’t grab me fast enough. We just finished “Suits” and loved loved loved it. Now into Borgen! Anyway, making us smile is your avenue and your Fuengirola shots make me feel so good inside. Hi to S.G. HUGS!!!

    1. Ron:
After watching 4 episodes, I like The Umbrella Academy, but it doesn’t grab me like Misfits and Heroes did. We loved Borgen and the follow-up. Hugs back!

  3. I sniggered at the ladies arriving for their exercise class – I surmise that they’ve not been doing those classes for long…

That “flower wall” is somewhat better looked-after than the sign. Typical Spain – it’ll be properly finished mañana!

    Jx

    1. Jon:
My experience of Spain has been very different. No more typical here than anyplace else I’ve lived. And the two cities we’ve called home have been the cleanest cities we’ve ever lived in.

  4. You do have beautiful areas to walk around, colourful and interesting. Do you know why those ladies carry such big bags from exercise class?

    1. larrymuffin:
Maybe they had towels and snacks. Maybe they were going to make it a morning at the beach.

      1. I have never carried a backpack or avoid carrying anything at all. So today when I see people with the giant bags I wonder what do they have in that thing?

        1. larrymuffin:
My mother and her sisters always carried those to the beach. Towels, sun tan lotion, sandwiches, fruit, cubed melon, other healthy snacks. Beverages. You name it.

  5. Yeah, I get the depression syndrome. Post Supreme Court, I’m more numb than angry. More depressed than motivated. It’s been a long struggle and to have it threatened by the stroke of a judicial pen is demoralizing.

  6. Frank’s comment is how I feel… although, actually, both numb and angry… and feeling like I’m stuck inside a paper bag and can’t punch my way out. Worried for what they will do to other rights. Gives us white folks a little bit of the feeling of how constant racism has made our African Americans feel; gives us straight folks a little bit of the feeling of how constant suppression and hatred have made our gay friends feel.
Sorry to add to depressing thoughts.

Thanks so much for these beautiful photos. I hope Yoga starts off well for you! In the summers, since I have time, I keep a daily chart where I write down the two chores that I accomplish that day… and, I’m easy on myself. Exercise counts as one. And even a 10-minute toilet bowl cleaning or de-cluttering of one spot, counts as one 🙂 Then, I write them down on my chart, and I don’t feel like I’m letting things pile up on me.

    1. Judy C:
Terrible times in the USA. I’m stunned. Your chore chart is inspired. That’s how I make To Do lists. Jerry would write: 1) Paint 2) Do laundry. I would write: 1) Tape for painting LR. 2) Paint LR. 3) Remove tape. 4) Tape for painting DR. Etc. Laundry: 1) Wash whites 2) Dry whites 3) Fold whites.

  7. Looks like Moose just wants some privacy like everyone else, LOL! My mood always improves when I see your pictures of Moose, Dudo and gorgeous flowers around Fuengirola — thanks!

    1. Tundra Bunny:
Moose doesn’t really care. Dudo on the other hand would have immediately sat up properly.

  8. I’m depressed about SCOTUS, too. Yesterday at work, The Umbrella Academy came up in our team chat. I had never heard of it before. My coworkers all said it’s dark but so wonderful that they’re addicted to it. I looked it up on Netflix. I’ll be surprised if it’s my kind of thing.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. janiejunebug:
Jerry and I like The Umbrella Academy but we’re not hooked like we were with Heroes and Misfits. And Jerry finds it a bit stressful to watch.

  9. Be glad you left the States – it’s a real shit show now. I’m happy for you both that you’re not hear to see the crap our government has become.

    1. Carole:
Sadly, we’re still citizens and the news is worldwide. It‘s shameful.

      1. It certainly is. Ive been unable to watch the news, mentally and emotionally, since this happened. And I fear Obergefell is next on their agenda.

  10. I am please to say I first read the Spanish and ‘mostly got it’ prior to reading the English to confirm. Thankyou for doing this. Besides the pleasure of reading your blog I get a bit of a Spanish lesson in.

    1. Urspo:
I’m pleased that my Spanish is working for you. Writing this every day is a huge help to me, too.

  11. I like the Fuengirola sign. It reminds me of a similar one at the Wildwoods in New Jersey. (That one is surrounded by fake beach balls!) Love the flowers in the top photo.

    1. Steve:
I do like that new sign. Ours should be surrounded by fake sardines.
