All aboard (or not) / Todos abordo (o no)

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

I don’t have much to say today. But I’m sure that won’t stop me. Dudo is currently driving me up the wall. I began this post at 1:04. The boys will get their second treat of the day in 11 minutes (now 10). However, they’ve been demanding it since noon. Dudo has been especially bossy. He’s currently sitting at my door meowing incessantly.

I had a sweaty walk under mostly overcast skies this morning. The air was breezeless. The green flags on the beach were hanging limp. The breeze has picked up now and I see there’s a warning of a “coastal event.” High winds and waves. There’s also a [gasp] 1% chance of rain.

There was a paddling class in progress while I was out — kayaks and boards. One looked particularly overloaded, but it was obviously stable. I made a video yesterday of a guy attempting to use a paddle board (photo above).

Dudo was quiet for several minutes. But he’s back — whining and attacking his paperbag. He must know it’s 1:15. Although I aim for 1:45, I cave at 1:15. Excuse me for a moment.

OK. I’m back and the cats are happy — for the next 3 or 4 hours. Maybe. Dudo usually starts complaining around 5 p.m. I don’t give in until 7. It makes for a long evening. Enjoy the photos. If they don’t speak for themselves, I do a little speaking (captioning) for them.

Oh, I had my days of the week mixed up. Both my medical appointments, this week and next, are on Tuesday and not Friday. I’m pleased about that.

.

Bueno. Regresé y los gatos están felices. Durante las próximas 3 o 4 horas. Tal vez.

  1. What I really think is funny is how Moose is in less space and bigger, and Dudo who is smaller is in the larger space!!!!

Looks much the same here today. Very overcast and dark, first time in ages. We are to get some heavy rains, heavens know we could use some rain.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Fortunately, Moose rarely seems to mind where he ends up, but when he does he can be so stubborn. After I wrote the post yesterday, the sky cleared, the humidity dropped, and a pleasant breeze blew. We never did have that coastal event (but another one is warned of today).

    1. Debra:
You notice they didn’t even have to strength to fight over the top level of the tree. Poor deprived cats.

  2. I was a great water skier when I was a child, but I never tried paddle boarding. (nor will I, at the point in life)

I love the photo of the cats. It’s perfect!

    1. Kelly:
SG was a good water skier, too. I never tried it and won’t be trying paddle boarding either.

  3. London had thunderstorms today (and looking at the sky, we may be due another). It hasn’t cleared the air one iota – too humid to contemplate anything as energetic as paddle-boarding, that’s for certain.

The pic of the “synchronised cats” is a corker – as is that glorious desert rose! Jx

    1. Jon:
I was so pleased with how Portrait mode worked on the desert rose. Between those two plants we’ve had blooms since 5 March. After I wrote yesterday, the sky cleared and it was a beautiful, breezy, less humid afternoon. The cats do crack me up often with their synchronization.

  4. My daughter and partner took me and Peter paddle boarding in Vevey last year. Best thing I’d done for ages, loved it. Age 64!!!

    1. Karen:
I’m impressed. Jerry has promised to do it with our friends’ daughter. However he promised when she was 11 and she’s now pushing 21.

  5. Synchronized cat napping! Love it!

There is nothing worse than a demanding pet. Olga gets that way sometimes about her walks. :/

    1. Steve:
Olga, Dudo, and Moose say there’s nothing worse than a poorly trained staffer.

  6. I just read your last posts. Those volleyball photos with the shorts are some good shots. I like how you always manage to get the guys with one pant leg shorter than the other! As far as the paddle board video goes, I have never done it myself, so I have no idea how I’d do with it. That photo of you with the sunglasses and cap looks great! Whenever I wear a cap and sunglasses and my running gear, Michael always tells me I look cute. I just roll my eyes and tell him he needs to go to the eye doctor.

    1. mcpersonalspace54:
I do miss a lot of shots of shorts (and other fashion). Sometimes I just can’t catch them without them knowing … I should be brave and start asking. Looking cute. SG and I have what has become a rule. We have to say thank you for compliments. If we reply with an eyeroll, we then follow with a (very whiney sounding) “Thank you” (like kids tend to say when prompted “What do you say?”)

      1. Michael and I have the same sort of thing. When ever I compliment him, he says “oi”, whenever he compliments me I roll my eyes. We have agreed to accept these compliments!

      2. mcpersonalspace54:
A really whiney “THANK YOU, MICHAEL” will be very effective.

  7. I think I need to stick with a boat that I am in, not on. Your sweet underfed kitties, I’d cave and give them everything and they would need wheels to get around.

    1. David:
Some people make the paddle boards look easy. They are obviously not. SG is like you with the cats, which is why I’ve been doing their thrice daily treats.

    1. dinahmow:
I didn’t count, so thanks for doing so. That thing sure was stable.

    1. Jan:
Those two plants have made me so happy this year. And who knew Portrait Mode was intended for desert roses?!?
