I had an excellent walk this morning, although I went a bit too far. I had to stop and sit on a bench twice on my way home and was even tempted to phone San Geraldo to come and get me. But I managed. (You know me, I don’t complain.) I thought I was ready but I suppose I should rein myself in. My still slightly water-retaining legs get tired and heavy feeling. I walked around 6 km (nearly 4 miles).
I forgot to mention that on my wanderings around town the other day I stopped at Casa Simon for some fruits and nuts. I bought dark chocolate covered raisins for San Geraldo, salt-free toasted almonds, sugar-free dried ginger, dark chocolate covered dried ginger (clearly not sugar-free) which I should stop buying given I make the effort to buy the other dried ginger, and sugar-free dried cranberries. I can easily get a dark chocolate fix elsewhere. I also found Ocean Spray cranberry juice (sugar-free) at a new Scandinavian market around the corner. I had actually gone there thinking they might have lingonberry juice which could possibly be another option. I’ll have to stock up. I’ve been enjoying a glass with a couple of sugar-free cookies (biscuits) every afternoon. San Geraldo has been cooking at home, which has been wonderful. But tonight we need a night out.
I couldn’t reach The Kid Brother last week when I was in hospital. I reached him on his home phone this week. It appears he forgot to pay his mobile bill. But he said he paid it the day before our call this week. And still his phone didn’t work. Don’t ask. I tried and got nowhere. I told him if it still wasn’t working Thursday (“I got work Wednesday, ya know!”) that he should go into T-Mobile or his office for help. “I’ll wait until you’re here,” he said. In January? I told him that wouldn’t work. I have a feeling we’ll be speaking on his landline again next week, and then I’ll be calling his office. Staff turnover is so constant I don’t even know who works there now. Sometimes they’re exceptional. Sometimes I can’t wait for them to “turn over.”
No preguntes.

Doesn’t hurt to challenge those legs, I guess, but be mindful as you have been taking those breaks.
The phone saga starts again! Have fun!
Jim:
Kid Brother, the never-ending story. The legs just get so heavy. It’s the pits!
Love your first photo of the metalwork suns and their shadows!
Debra:
Thanks. I really like that, too. That sun has been used as the Fuengirola logo — Fuengirola, un sol de ciudad.
4 miles!?!?!? Your lucky you didn’t do some harm. Best no over so it Stretch.
Beautiful pictures….that first is amazing with the shadows. Im with San Geraldo…I love dark chocolate covered raisins.
Mistress Borghese:
That first view immediately caught my eye and I knew I wanted to strip the color to make it more interesting. SG’s favorite treat is dark-chocolate covered raisins. I think that’s the only reason he liked to go the movies in the States. A handful of those treats and a handful of popcorn at the same time. Heaven! I enjoyed Milk Duds and Dots… but not in my mouth at the same time.
Don’t overdo it!!!
Baby steps, literally!
Bob:
Old fart steps more like!
I think I’d be a bit pooped walking four miles with jelly-legs, but again it looks like lovely weather to just meander in… Jx
Jon:
The legs aren’t jelly, more like lead! The weather has been glorious.
You and I are alike in the idea that we try to push things. My physical therapist “fussed” at me for running three miles the other day. She gave me a chart to follow for “return to running”, which I am not following! I get it though…you want to be doing what you were doing!
Michael:
Before I leave the house San Geraldo says “Don’t overdo it,” knowing I will.
Boud here urging restraint so you don’t pay a price later. That’s a great walking place, though, flat, nice views, sea air, all mod cons.
Boud:
That is one of the great things about Fuengirola, the long flat seaside walk. It’s very inviting for people of all abilities. For a change at times I like to turn away from the sea and walk the nearby hills.
It’s so easy to walk too far at the beach. At least in my experience. “Oh, I’ll just walk up to that little inlet,” and then you realize after another half hour that the little inlet was two miles away. Distances are so deceptive at the beach.
Ms. Moon
MsMaryMoon:
You’re right about distances. Walking on the beach, I’ll turn around and wonder ‘How did I get this far?’
Exactly. And that is the very moment you realize that you’re exhausted. Or at least I do.
MM
Love that first photo with the shadows!!
Kelly:
Thanks! I like that, too. I immediately pictured it with the color stripped out. I wasn’t disappointed.
Waiting until January. Sounds like the Kid Brother only trusts you, Mitchell.
Kirk:
Yep. One of KB’s most often used lines is “I’ll wait until you get here.”
At least you didn’t say carted away! I would love to have benches with those views along my walk.
sillygirl:
Carted away wouldn’t have been so bad. I would have loved a bench right at the surf line.
Four miles! Yeah, take it easy! 🙂
I hope your brother gets the phone situation worked out.
Steve:
I didn’t do a long walk today, just out for dinner. I doubt KB will get this taken care of on his own.
Oh, gracious, it must be so hard for you not being able to fix problems like the unpaid phone bill, from so far away.
4 miles! Wow, great! I can’t imagine walking that far if your legs felt heavy, though. Yikes!
Judy C:
I’m thankful that lately Chuck doesn’t have as many “situations” as he used to. And, yes, picking up the feet got to be work. I’m going to hit the street again this morning, but maybe half the distance and then exercise at home.
I admire your miles! I feel ‘good’ if I get to three.
Urspo:
This is a great, easy, and interesting place to walk.
Don’t make me come there and slap you, Mister! TAKE IT EASY!!!!!!
Sassybear:
Oh, please come here. But don’t slap me!
