These are most of the doors from yesterday’s doornails. So many works of art. How many doors within doors can you find today? Moose doesn’t care. He just wants more attention.
We returned from our morning coffee and second breakfast to find Merchi working away happily. She had a video of Moose lazing on his cat tree while she stroked him. She said when she walked in, he starting talking to her so she thought she’d give it a try. She stroked him for a long time and he purred non-stop. He was ecstatic. And we’re ecstatic. You CAN teach an old cat new tricks. Dudo gives her the cold shoulder. When she enters a room, he leaves.
It was 15˚C/59˚F when we got up this morning. I opened all the windows. An hour later, San Geraldo came into my office and said Dudo had told him to file a complaint. They had the chills. That’s long-underwear weather in San Geraldo’s world. But, don’t worry, the temperature quickly climbed and it was warm again (but not hot) by early afternoon..

More great photos, and one cool cat.
David:
Always something to take a picture of.
A lot of those doors don’t seem to have handles or door knobs! I guess they push in. And I’m with San Geraldo, 59˚ is definitely sweater and just creeping out of long underwear weather.
ellen abbott:
It was 62 when I woke up this morning. Glorious. But only glorious because it gets up to the 80s during the day. High 70s would be perfect in my book.
Doors # 3103 and 3220 are my faves: they’re beautiful. Don’t like the prisonesque feeling of #3128 though….
Poor Dudo, the skinny are always cold, whereas the well-insulated Moose must love the cooler weather. And who could resist Moose’s intent stare for a treat or some affection, LOL?
Tundra Bunny:
3128 and 3220 are private homes. I’d love to see inside. Yes, Dudo and SG, the skinny are always cold!
The doors and door nails are great but I want that tile in #3149 to the right of the door. Well, in the photo it’s to the right. I want it badly. That looks like my dream tile. Can you go out in the dead of night and pry it off and send it to me, please? I’ll pay shipping.
I am so jealous of your cooler weather. I’ve just been outside for an hour and am soaked through.
Senora Luna
Sra. Luna:
Isn’t that tile incredible? There was a lot more around the curve. I’ll be sure to share a more expansive photo. I have time before my trip in November. I’ll sneak over during the night and then hide the tiles in my suitcase. Cheaper to ship from NY. It’s still only 70 here with highs in the mid 80s today. What a relief!
We just got a halfway decent rain- first one in a month at least and the temperature has dropped considerably. Bliss.
Glad we have a plan on the tile. I could just drive up and get it from you when you’re in NY.
But probably not.
Ms. Moon:
I would love a halfway decent rain. It meeting you in New York is the outcome, I’ll get those tiles!
That’s a framable photo of Moose. I could stare back at him all day long.
Kelly:
Isn’t that wonderful? Thanks.
So many wonderful doors with ‘nail art’! Love them!
Moose is a STAR!
Our mornings are chilly as well, and then it warms up to about 20C.
Jim:
Warms up to about 20C. We wouldn’t complain about a couple of days like that in winter, but mid-20s is preferred.
Ooh, I hope SG and Dudo don’t get frostbite or something! That is a gorgeous picture of Moose.
Deedles:
I was delighted with that shot of Moose. I snapped and immediately showed SG!
I spotted fourteen doors-within-doors – it’s a bit deceptive, because on some of the bigger, grander (church?) doors, there are actually two…
All very lovely, indeed. If our front door was not a) owned by our landlady, and b) mostly glass, we’d have some hefty doornails and a big knocker, too! Jx
Jon:
I would love to live in a building with a front door like that. Then again, we wave a fob in front of a little screen and our glass door opens to us. I haven’t seen that feature on these giant, door-nailed doors. I counted 14, as well!
That’s a lot of wood!!!!!!!
I like them , but card on the table….Moose was my favorite part. I knew right away that was Moose. I think I can now tell them apart. I adore both, but have a soft spot for Moose.
Mistress Borghese:
They ARE easy to tell apart once you get past the “oh, their 2 black and white cats.” Moose is continually sweeter. I adore Dudo and his smarts and quirkiness. He’s my pal. But I fall more in love with Moose every day (except at 3 in the morning).
Moose looks gorgeous in that photo; must be his new found affection for Merchi . And if he keeps this up, Dudo may come around!
And the doors–not to be confused with The Doors–are fabulous. I wish I had a house with a large enough opening for a door, and a door in a door!
Bob:
Dudo just thinks Moose is reckless. “She’s the one with that noisy motorized swallowing machine!!!” I, too, would love a house with a front door like that. I don’t even need the door within a door. Although, could you imagine?!?
I loved the photos then and love them now.
So much character, so much texture. And the history!
Also, I can’t wait until we are in mid-November.
XOXO
Sixpence Notthewiser:
I’ll be in NYC early November. I hope the weather cooperates. It can be a beautiful time of year.
Oh Moose: so beautiful, so commanding! Olivia
Olivia:
Sometimes I look at Moose and my heart melts.
Thank you for the etymology lesson! I never knew where that term came from!
Rade:
I never even gave it a thought until now.
Poor Moose. A giant blackhole of endless emotional needs.
Urspo:
He’s no black hole. He gives as good as he gets.
