I spent all day yesterday wondering if our package would finally be delivered by DHL. I also wondered what I was to do when it was, yet again, not delivered. At 7:02 p.m. Spain time, I received email from DHL informing me delivery was successful (12:02 p.m. Texas time). I was astounded. I was also astounded how much better I immediately felt physically. Imagine if I had been able to reach a human earlier and that human had actually listened to me when I told them I was sure the delivery person was not at the correct address, what I had been saying in writing for more than a week and what I told the first agent I spoke with Monday.
I had a medical appointment today. I thought I knew where and with whom. I went there, waited for an hour and learned that I did not have that medical appointment. The appointment I was being reminded of was one I had canceled with the nephrologist because I’m seeing him in July. Public Health does sometimes have communication problems. I should know by now to phone. It did at least get me showered and out of the house earlier than I might have done.
Feeling stupid, I texted San Geraldo to let him know I was on my way home for a late lunch (because I felt the need to walk and not taxi). He suggested we meet somewhere instead. I was about 30 minutes from home, so I chose a place we like that was halfway between us. He took a taxi. I walked. And we had a great lunch.
I’m back to talking to the trees today, mostly flowering ones. I’d like to get out for a better walk but the temperature has risen to over 34˚C/93˚F, so I’m on the fence. A workout at home will help. At some point I need to try on what I think I’m wearing to that wedding.

Beautiful flowering trees! Don’t you just love this time of year?!
Jim:
I sure do. Uplifting.
If there is another tree with flowers as dramatic as Brugmansia, I have never encountered it – they are fantabulosa! The Persian silk tree (in photo #2) is also stunning. I have no idea what the others are… Jx
PS So pleased that the saga of the parcel’s finally over. Hopefully your Omeprazole intake will now go down.
Jon:
I love those trumpet flowers, and the colors of these specific ones. I always knew the Persian silk only as mimosa. Only learned Persian silk in recent years. There was a mimosa in our back garden outside my bedroom window when I was a kid. My parents planted it and by the time we moved less than 9 years later, I could reach out my window and brush the leaves to make them close, plus I could pick the flowers. Clearly it was planted too close to the house! Sadly, I still had to take a pill yesterday.
It must be something a DHL. I finally found out the fee I owed was indeed legitimate as all because of the tariffs that are great buffoon has instilled on so many countries. After 2 weeks the damn thing finally got here. I guess we can both rest now.
And the tree pictures are glorious, I swear I can practically smell them. They are pretty I still think my favorite flowering tree those Magnolias. But this is a pretty close second.
Magnolias are my favourite trees as well, Maddie! Such blowsy flowers – and all before any leaves arrive. Stunning. Jx
PS I did say when you mentioned new extra charges that Trump’s tariffs were to blame. The UK has not been exempted from his petty idiocy…
Jon,
I hope to get some shots of magnolias in bloom, but the flowers are too high in the trees. I think the lower ones have been plucked before I get there.
Mistress Maddie,
We have a problem receiving packages from the States sent via USPS. There’s always an unexplained duties-customs fee, often more than the package is worth.
Lovely blooms…my life at the moment seems centred around medical appointments phooey !
finlaygray:
I know that feeling. I’m on a bit of a reprieve. I hope you get one soon, and feel a lot better, too.
DHL finally did their job, YAY! Customer service provided by real, live humans is a thing of the past at those multinationals. No wonder we all get stressed out trying to resolve even the simplest of issues!
Those flowering trees are lovely — those pinkish trumpet-shaped flowers remind me of pumpkin or zucchini blooms. No flowering trees here (unless you count pinecones), but lots of flowering bushes — lilacs should be in bloom here soon and I adore their scent!
Tundra Bunny:
When I phoned DHL, I had to hit ZERO after the same prompt six times until they finally connected me with a real person. And, of course, they don’t tell you to do that if you want a real person. There are so many flowering trees here. Some I had never even seen before.
Isn’t it amazing when a problem we’ve been having to deal with finally gets solved or resolved and our physical symptoms sort of just fall away? I know I put a lot of my anxiety into my body. And yet, I’m still sort of shocked when I’m presented with that truth.
Beautiful flowering trees.
Excellent video choice.
Ms. Moon
Ms. Moon:
Oh, yes, I know how much anxiety I put into my body. And either it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older or I was just too dense to realize it when I was younger.
Wahooo!!
Very glad your package arrived, and you feel better 🙂
Judy C:
Hallelujah!
We have had several mimosa trees over the years. Beautiful trees, but they do not last long – after about 10 years, they grow too big too fast for the trunks to support the canopy, and they topple over. I have one “spout” that keeps coming up off an old root stock. I cut it back to the ground every fall so it does not get out of hand.
Please be careful; from what you are saying, you put way too much stress into your relationship with “kid brother”; there is love and caring, then there is obsession and anxiety, and it does not seem like it’s reciprocated. Be careful.
Rade:
We had mimosas in Fuengirola that were pruned and maintained every year. I do need to control the way I react to KB but he’s mostly got the reasoning of a 6-year-old and has always been more like my son. The reciprocation is that we love each other.
I really like the last photo with the tall skinny trees and the palm in the middle. Glad your DHL drama has come to a close!
Michael:
I like that view. They planted several new palms and evergreens in the middle space that should look great in another year. Now we just have to wait for the paperwork to be processed by the company that received it. Three weeks later than planned!
I’m so glad the package finally, finally, got there. Yes,you do translate stress physically. Yesterday I was worn out largely because of various small setbacks, doctors, food delivery, app failing etc. Today I realize that’s why I was so done in. I’m hoping today I’ll do better! Boud
Boud:
I don’t know why I’m always somewhat surprised after the event when my body recovers.
DHS success!!! Bravo!!
Love the flowering tress, so beautiful.
Bob:
There’s a group of large yellow-flowering trees in the park behind us. I haven’t gotten a good shot yet and they’re now creating a yellow blanket on the pavement.
Always enjoy those nice walks.
David:
Life is so much better on “walking days.”
Yay! Finally. All it takes is talking to someone who actually cares about doing their job. Gorgeous trees. I had a mimosa at the city house. My doughter hated it because she was allergic to the pollen.
ellen abbott:
Ridiculous that the delivery was so much trouble. I could see what the problem was from 5,000 miles away. Such a shame about your daughter’s allergies. I don’t think mimosa ever bothered me. Lucky!
