What’s so funny ’bout peace, love, and underwear?

It’s only 28˚C/82.4˚F, today’s peak. Although it was eveb cooler when I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned, the humidity is too high for my liking. It’s down to 44% from a high of 67%. Uf! The hygienist, Sandra, was exceptional. I love the feeling of clean and polished teeth. We both forgot about my new plastic retainers so I head back Thursday morning to have those impressions made.

Yesterday was a day for a long wander around the city center. No stomach problems, although the hip was aching by the time I got home. Given how I’ve been feeling lately, I’ve been spending too much time sitting at my desk and that’s what’s causing the hip problems.

San Geraldo recently bought a new chair that we both love and it doesn’t aggravate my bursitis/tendonitis when I use it, so he ordered one for me today. We’ve gone through a lot of chairs in the past 15 years. Stretching helps significantly, but the chair quickly undoes a lot of that good.

My walk yesterday, although creaky, took me to some wonderful neighborhoods, none very far from ours, although I did an awful lot of winding and meandering. One of my favorite ways to spend a day. Pretty soon, on a day when all is well, I’ll have some specific goals in mind in town. Like the royal palace.

This morning, as I was getting ready for the dentist (hobbling at times with the stupid hip), my stomach again acted up. I took two pills and made it through the dentist visit and didn’t have another attack (although I could feel it coming) until after lunch. I do finally have gastroenterology tests the end of this month. I also had a case of the dizzies (barometric pressure) but took a pill and was quickly steadier. I’ve started to become catastrophic in my imaginings (but only at moments). I usually leave the catastrophic imaginings to San Geraldo. He has a gift and can go from 0 to 60 in a split second. Sorry to be talking (whining) so much about health issues. It’s been kind of exhausting lately. Forget all that and come walk with me.

  1. I absolutely adore Postmodern Jukebox (as you are well aware!), and Sarah Potenza – by far their finest vocalist – does the very best version of that song I have ever heard! We experienced this live at the London Palladium, and she was magnificent.

Lovely set of photos from your hobblings – sorry, meanderings – again! I would give that cat a very wide berth indeed – it looks vicious… Jx

    1. Jon,
I don’t know how I stumbled upon Sarah Potenza a while back but I was immediately hooked and spent more than an hour listening to her. And THEN there she is with PMJ!the cat seemed very sweet in person but, yeah, he does have that look!

  2. We spend far too much time at our desks for people who are not paid to be at our desks. The kitty looks like she could use some love.

  3. I love the monument for peace; it’s really beautiful.
I saw a black cat running through a parking lot and almost pulled over but Carlos protested.

  4. So sorry your health is getting in the way lately. I’m fine reading about it if you feel better have a little moan. Stoicism is overrated.

  5. Watch out, Scoot, that street cat looks like he’d shank you for a sardine!

So when are we going to see some fish in SG’s aquarium? Or has he discovered aquatic gardening and changed his mind?

    1. Michael,
I must admit sometimes I enjoy whining, but I really don’t have anything to complain about… in the greater scheme of things.

  6. LOVE the cat photo. Is the fountain at the top supposed to be a lion? I also like the Peace Monument.

Sorry you’ve been dealing with all this health stuff. That’s no fun. I’m clearly behind on your blog so I’ll read back now to see what you’ve been up to during the past week!

  7. I really like the Monument to Peace. But oh my, that world-weary lion with the spout in its mouth, dear oh dear. And hey, thanks for introducing me to Postmodern Jukebox! Have not heard of this group and its music before. I really like the singer’s dress (in addition to her powerhouse vocals) — it’s a very flattering cut on a fuller figure like hers.

    1. Debra,
From a distance it’s an elegant, traditional fountain. Close-up, it’s Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. Post Modern Jukebox is incredible. Enjoy getting lost in their music. And Sarah Potenza is amazing.

  8. That poor, poor lion. Not only is he stuck for eternity with that…what exactly is that?…in his mouth, but his head is on sideways. And he has a big hole in his head! Also, a human nose. Is he a fountain? At least his mane is fairly luxurious looking.
At least you did get your teeth cleaned. Excellent! These stomach problems of yours are definitely interfering with your quality of life. Why am I telling you this? I believe you know.
I have to say the wires under the underwear are tidy. And white. Tidy whiteys? In Cozumel they would have been black and hanging wherever fate caused them to hang.
    Get better, Michell! Please.

    1. Mary Moon,
Imagine my surprise the first time I closed in on that lion. And, yes, the wires re tidy. They are often not!

  9. Taking my cue from Bob’s comment above re black cat, this very morn when breaking two eggs to poach for my regular (first) brekkie, BOTH eggs turned out to be double-yoked! Can’t recall that happening before. Does that mean double good luck is imminent? Can but hope. We’ll watch with interest.
Btw: I believe that in some countries eggs with two yokes is considered to be the very converse of what it means here. Maybe also in Espana?

    1. Raybeard,
It’s also a good omen here with a lot of depth to the predictions (using the double theme).

  10. Good morning (afternoon) Mitchell!

I’m sorry you’ve been feeling bad. I’ve been a bit behind in my blog reading because of my own stupid aches and pains and issues. We can vent together! 🙂 Anyway, hope you’re feeling much better today. Sending you a hug. xx

    Jennifer

  11. Whine away! It does help on a couple of levels. Love those days when all is manageable.
Great photos too! What would we do without our cameras?

    1. Jim:
I wish I had better photos of that house and the gardens. It was charming… and the money pit!
