I HAVEN’T TALKED about Slushee for a while. You remember her, don’t you? She’s our friend, Ann, who worked at a café on the Paseo and was so-named for her ever-changing hair colors that sometimes resembled what you might get from a Slushee machine. (Click here to meet her hair.)
The reason I haven’t mentioned Slushee is because I think she’s in a Witness Protection program.
The former Slushee has changed her look just a little. And she’s now taking care of things at a wonderful café/restaurant on one of the charming streets that parallel the Paseo here in Los Boliches.
Also, whether she likes it or not, Slushee must now be called Harold. The name derives from the strong glue, “Araldite.” John, the owner of the new restaurant, “Food for Thought,” as well as the nearby “Bar Mundi” christened her for Araldite because he says, “Once you join up with her, you’re stuck for life.” (John pronounces “Harold” as “Arold.”)
I don’t want to blow Harold’s cover. So, please, let’s keep this between us.
NO HE HABLADO de Slushee por un tiempo. Te acuerdas de ella, ¿no? Ella es nuestra amiga, Ann, que trabajó en un café en el Paseo y fue así llamada por sus colores de pelo siempre cambiante que a veces se parecía a lo que podría obtener de una máquina de Slushee. La razón por la que no he mencionado a Slushee es porque ella se ha movido y va por otro nombre. Creo que está en una programa de protección de testigos.
La ex Slushee ha cambiado su aspecto un poco. Y ahora se ocupa de las cosas en un maravilloso café/restaurante en una de las encantadoras calles que paralelan el Paseo aquí en Los Boliches.
Además, le guste o no, a Slushee se le debe llamar Harold. El nombre deriva de el pegamento fuerte, “Araldite”. John, el dueño del nuevo restaurante, “Food for Thought”, así como el cercano “Bar Mundi”, la bautizó para Araldite porque dice: “Una vez que te unes a ella, estás atrapado para toda la vida”. (John pronuncia “Harold” como “Arold.”)
No quiero soplear la cubierta de Harold. Así que, por favor, mantengamos esto entre nosotros.
