San Geraldo showed our tire damage to the service manager at the Toyota Dealership and he said it wasn’t as bad as it looked and wouldn’t effect the car inspection. He was right. The car passed yesterday with flying colors. We might get new tires anyway, given the six years the car has spent in the sun and salty sea air. The entire process was a breeze and very pleasant. I got to stand out in the mist, take pictures of the restroom signs, and contemplate going across the street after the inspection to the “gentleman’s club,” New S’candalo. Do you suppose they’ve ever even seen a gentleman? Sadly (not really), the club didn’t open until 5 p.m. and we were done before 3:30. It drizzled on me while I waited the 20 minutes for San Geraldo. Very pleasant.

When I ordered our new iMacs, I could have had them delivered between the 24th and the 26th for no charge, or for an extra €20 they could have been delivered between the 21st and the 24th. I decided to not pay the extra €20 on the off chance they’d arrive on the 24th anyway. Well, they arrived this morning, the 21st, at no extra charge. I went out for a walk and thought I’d hook mine up when I got home.

But Jesica and Sergio phoned while I was out (having completed more than half my walk) and asked if we wanted to meet for coffee. Of course we wanted to meet for coffee. We hadn’t seen them since July. I phoned San Geraldo, who immediately cleaned up his act (with a shower and fresh clothes). I arrived home 25 minutes later, wiped off the sweat, put on a decent shirt, and we were off. Their daugher Mia is almost four months old and is perfection. Apparently she only cries when she’s hungry. She smiled, laughed, and cooed and burbled constantly. I’m in love. We ended up spending more than two hours together. The iMac is going to wait for tomorrow. And it was so worth it.

San Geraldo mostró el daño de nuestras llantas al gerente de servicio en el concesionario Toyota y dijo que no era tan malo como parecía y que no afectaría la inspección del automóvil. Él estaba en lo correcto. El auto pasó ayer con gran éxito. Podríamos comprar neumáticos nuevos de todos modos, dados los seis años que el automóvil ha pasado bajo el sol y el aire salado del mar. Todo el proceso fue muy sencillo y muy agradable. Cuando pedí nuestros nuevos iMac, podría haberlos entregado entre el 24 y el 26 de octubre sin cargo, o por 20 € adicionales podrían haberlos entregado entre el 21 y el 24. Decidí no pagar los 20 € adicionales en caso de que llegaran el 24 de todos modos. Bueno, llegaron esta mañana, el 21, sin cargo adicional. Salí a caminar y pensé en conectar el mío cuando llegara a casa.

Pero Jesica y Sergio me llamaron mientras yo estaba fuera (habiendo completado más de la mitad de mi caminata) y me preguntaron si queríamos quedar para tomar un café. Por supuesto que queríamos encontrarnos para tomar un café. No los habíamos visto desde julio. Llamé a San Geraldo, quien inmediatamente limpió su acto (con una ducha y ropa fresca). Llegué a casa 25 minutos después, me sequé el sudor, me puse una camisa decente y nos fuimos. Su hija Mia tiene casi cuatro meses y es perfecta. Aparentemente solo llora cuando tiene hambre. Sonreía, reía, arrullaba y balbuceaba constantemente. Estoy enamorado. Terminamos pasando más de dos horas juntos. El iMac va a esperar a mañana. Y valió la pena.
