Twas the day before Epiphany and all through the house not a creature was stirring. Except San Geraldo. “Mitchell?” he said, sounding very perplexed. “Yes?” I responded, sounding equally perplexed.
“Why does Santa Claus arrive this time of year?”
I was at a loss for words (if you can imagine). Was he finally asking me if there really was a Santa Claus? Or why he didn’t come in summer instead of winter? Or was he suggesting that Jesus wasn’t actually born in December, so this whole business was off schedule?
I stared at him, silently, hoping for some clarification.
“I mean, tomorrow’s January 6th; why are you going to see Santa Claus arrive in a helicopter TOMORROW?”
I put my hand to his cheek and explained, “The Three Kings, not Santa Claus, are coming in the helicopter tomorrow (click here) … Because it’s Three Kings Day. Santa Claus has already been here. In his sleigh. Pulled by flying reindeer.”
“Ohhhhhhh, now THAT makes sense!”

Era la víspera de la Epifanía, y todo en la casa era paz. Excepto San Geraldo. “Mitchell?” dijo, sonando muy perplejo. “¿Sí?” respondí, sonando igualmente perplejo.
“¿Por qué llega Papá Noel en esta época del año?”
Me quedé sin palabras (si puedes imaginar). ¿Finalmente me estaba preguntando si realmente había un Papá Noel? ¿O por qué no vino en verano en lugar de en invierno? ¿O estaba sugiriendo que Jesús no nació realmente en diciembre, por lo que todo este asunto no estaba programado?
Lo miré fijamente y silenciosamente, esperando alguna aclaración.
“Quiero decir, mañana es el 6 de enero; ¿por qué vas a ver a Papá Noel llegar en un helicóptero MAÑANA?”
Puse mi mano en su mejilla y le expliqué: “Los Reyes Magos, no Papá Noel, vendrán al helicóptero mañana (haz clic aquí) … Porque es el Día de los Reyes Magos. Papá Noel ya estuvo aquí. En su trineo. Tirado por renos voladores.”
“Ohhhhhhh, ESO tiene sentido!”
