On the street, I call it funny (usually). On a mannequin in a high-end shop, I call it fashion (usually). What a pretentious hypocrite. Put a designer label on it and it gets credibility. One of these days perhaps we’ll learn the (or a) reason for the short leg look.

This morning I had my MRIs (with contrast). I had no breakfast and then went with San Geraldo for late breakfast at Mesón Salvador. Two days in a row. What a treat. All went smoothly despite the fact that, no matter how hard I tried, I obsessed about this for the past 5 days. I was in a different MRI machine that was a tube open at both ends. At times, I could see the ceiling of the room. Also, although I brought my own ear plugs this time, I was given noise cancelling headphones. That made all the difference. No headache. No tinnitus. I had a plastic needle in my arm the entire time — not at all comfortable. I thought I was to have one scan and then go into another room for the other. So, I was elated when the radiologist told me they did them both at the same time. Forty minutes. Every member of staff at Vithas Medical Center was exceptional.

It’s a good thing San Geraldo drove me there and waited in the cafeteria. Thinking I was going to be inside the MRI machines for more than an hour, I took a double dose of Xanax before I started. Don’t worry. A double dose for me is an entire .5 mg. That’s two of my .25 mg, the lowest they go. I am such a lightweight. It was much more than I needed and I was kind of tippy when it was all over. Like I said, lightweight. So now I have to wait 11 days and 18 days for the two different doctor’s appointments. Argh.

I might have a siesta now (since the cats have already had their second round of treats) and then perhaps go for a walk on the beach in the afternoon. Maybe I’ll even find some sea glass.

Our dear friend, Lulu, who carries sunshine wherever she goes, is back in town for a couple of weeks. We met at Tapa and Tai last night and had a joyous and perfectly distracting time with Lulu the best (and most consistently delicious) food and service. They were very busy, but we still got some personal time with the team. Great food, great people. Charming atmosphere. Lulu is only back for two weeks and will then be in Finland for the summer. We hate when she’s not here.

En la calle, lo llamo divertido (por lo general). En un maniquí en una tienda de alta gama, lo llamo moda (generalmente). Que hipócrita pretencioso. Póngale una etiqueta de diseñador y obtendrá credibilidad. Un día de estos tal vez sepamos el (o un) motivo del look de piernas cortas.

Esta mañana tuve mis resonancias magnéticas (con contraste). No desayuné y luego fui con San Geraldo a desayunar tarde al Mesón Salvador. Dos días seguidos. Qué lujo. Todo salió bien a pesar de que, sin importar cuánto lo intenté, estuve obsesionado con esto durante los últimos 5 días. Estaba en una máquina de resonancia magnética diferente que era un tubo abierto en ambos extremos. A veces, podía ver el techo de la habitación. Además, aunque esta vez traje mis propios tapones para los oídos, me dieron auriculares con cancelación de ruido. Eso hizo toda la diferencia. Sin dolor de cabeza. Sin tinnitus. Tuve una aguja de plástico en mi brazo todo el tiempo, nada cómoda. Pensé que iba a tener un escaneo y luego ir a otra habitación para el otro. Así que me emocioné cuando el radiólogo me dijo que los habían hecho a la vez. Cuarenta minutos. Todos los miembros del personal del Centro Médico Vithas fueron excepcionales.

Menos mal que San Geraldo me llevó allí y me esperó en la cafetería. Pensando que iba a estar dentro de las máquinas de resonancia magnética durante más de una hora, tomé una dosis doble de Xanax antes de comenzar. No te preocupes. Una dosis doble para mí es un total de 0,5 mg. Son dos de mis .25 mg, lo más bajo que van. Soy tan ligero. Era mucho más de lo que necesitaba y estaba un poco mareado cuando todo terminó. Como dije, ligero. Así que ahora tengo que esperar 11 días y 18 días para las dos citas médicas diferentes. Argh.

Podría dormir una siesta ahora (ya que los gatos ya han tenido su segunda ronda de golosinas) y luego quizás dar un paseo por la playa por la tarde. Tal vez incluso encuentre algo de vidrio de mar.

Nuestra querida amiga, Lulu, que lleva la luz del sol a donde quiera que vaya, está de regreso en la ciudad por un par de semanas. Nos conocimos en Tapa and Tai anoche y pasamos un momento alegre y perfectamente distraído con Lulu, la mejor (y más consistentemente deliciosa) comida y servicio. Estaban muy ocupados, pero aun así tuvimos algo de tiempo personal con el equipo. Buena comida, gente estupenda. Ambiente encantador. Lulu solo regresa por dos semanas y luego estará en Finlandia durante el verano. Odiamos cuando ella no está aquí.
