My mobile tells me it’s 32C/90F but the big thermometer across the street says it’s 35C/95F. Either way, it’s a hot day for a 4.5+km/3 mile walk to the doctor’s office and back. But it sure was a beautiful walk. I had received multiple reminders about this appointment. The date, time, and “medical center” were all it said. I finally had to phone this morning and ask whom I was scheduled to see, what the specialty was, and which public health medical center they were talking about (I go to three). I was grateful at least they knew. The appointment was fine.
San Geraldo and I managed to have a relaxing Wednesday morning coffee and second breakfast before I walked over. Now, I’m in cool-down mode, and soon will be lunch.
I saw The Kid Brother again yesterday. He was in a much better mood, although he didn’t mention not having money for a haircut (which he’s not even due for). I didn’t take the bait and that gives me indigestion. Tough love.
The jacarandas and silk oaks are in glorious bloom all over the city. I pared down my 47 photos to these 14. I hope you don’t mind.
Ayer volví a ver El Hermanito.

Love all the flowering trees. Ours are all past flowering and are now just awaiting the heat of summer ….
Bob:
We have a long range of blooming trees here, but we’re having an intro to the heat this week. Mid-90s.
The jacarandas are beautiful. The silk oak flowers are very interesting. It’s a new tree to me. And yeah, I talk to my trees too.

Our street is Santa Barbara was lined with mature, lush jacarandas. It was glorious.
Glad you figured out your appointment! I love the jacarandas. I didn’t even remember that silk oaks bloom, even though we had a couple of them in my yard when I was a kid. (My mom called them “trash trees” that my father got free from the nursery with some other purchase. She never liked them and indeed they weren’t very long-lived.)
Steve:
Are you suggesting your mother may have neglected or misused the silk oaks? I find them to be gorgeous trees.
Jacarandas have to be my all-time favourite flowering tree! There is nothing else quite like them. Jx
Jon:
They are spectacular and so unusual in color.
First off, how is it possible that we have the same high temperature as you today….32C on 20 May!! beautiful day here and back to our normal temps tomorrow….around 16C.
Those trees/Jacaranadas/Silk Oaks are incredible.
Sometimes we have to be ‘cruel’/tough love to be kind.
Jim:
Climate change? Nah, couldn’t be. We’re still to be in the mid-30s today.
Those jacaranda trees are so beautiful. I don’t think I have ever seen one here in Virginia. I had forgotten all about the Smothers Brothers!
Michael:
Oh, how I loved the Smothers Brothers. Jacarandas were very common in Southern California (and here). Stunning.
If we have either silk oaks or jacarandas around here, I do not know it. Thank you for sharing all of those beautiful ones. I especially love #0460. The blooms against that sky are terrific.
Oh, Tommy and Dickie. I loved them, loved their act. And of course all the acts they brought on. They were brave and they jumped a lot of bars. They deserve more credit than they get.

Ms. Moon:
When reading about silk oaks, I did find that Florida is a good climate for them. And I’ve read there are lots of jacarandas in the Tampa Bay area. I LOVED the Smothers Brothers. Surprisingly, Dick Smothers, was/is politically conservative.
Much warmer in Tampa during the winters. We always get a freeze or two while they rarely do.
I don’t think I knew that about Dick Smothers.
“I’m an American. I don’t have to watch a show to know it’s dumb”
That pretty much sums up the nation’s politics these days.
Kirk:
I thought that line was hilarious… and so current.
I demand to see those other 33 photos! hahahaha
Debra,
Be careful what you wish for.
Mother loved you best — endless Smothers rivalry. The flowering trees are wonderful. I bet there are great scents everywhere too. Boud
Boud,
Yes, the fragrance in the air is delightful.
I like to talking to trees too. My favorite case in thirty years involves a tree talking back to someone.
Urspo:
I’m relieve to tell you a tree has never talked back to me.
