We had burgers at Goiko Grill last night because the apartment was clean and we didn’t feel like messing it up. Besides, the staff at Goiko now all know us and treat us like family. We always have a great time there and feel like we’re home. Their latest napkins gave me a chuckle. Even San Geraldo got the joke. After a beat.
We put up one of our antique mirrors on the terrace and love the look. The cats have hung out there, but neither has yet to jump on a chair. I even put a towel on one to see if that would help.
Jacarandas are in bloom all over town. I took a picture of one in lamplight last night, but will get shots during the day of the rows of them.
Last night’s fireworks started right on time at midnight. A number of neighbors were on the roof to watch. Our closest neighbor is a charming woman named Lucia. She’s lived here since the building was new (1982) and raised three children, all of whom visit regularly and are also charming. They’re here often enough that we’re getting to know each other. Two live in Málaga and one lives in Córdoba. They have grown children who are also warm and friendly. A rare family. So we visited last night while watching the fireworks from our distance of 3km/2 miles.
Now it’s time for me to buzz-cut my hair, trim my beard, and shave. I’ve got to at least try to look presentable for Evan and Sarah who arrive in 2-1/2 hours. Don’t miss Thursday’s sunset below.
Anoche comimos hamburguesas en Goiko Grill porque el apartamento estaba limpio y no nos apetecía desordenarlo. Además, ahora todo el personal de Goiko nos conoce y nos trata como familia. Siempre lo pasamos genial allí y nos sentimos como en casa. Sus servilletas más recientes me hicieron reír. Incluso San Geraldo pilló la broma. Al poco rato.
Colocamos uno de nuestros espejos antiguos en la terraza y nos encanta cómo queda. Los gatos han estado ahí, pero ninguno ha saltado a una silla. Incluso puse una toalla sobre uno para ver si ayudaba.
Las jacarandas están en flor por toda la ciudad. Anoche le saqué una foto a una a la luz de una farola, pero haré fotos durante el día de las hileras.
Los fuegos artificiales de anoche empezaron justo a la medianoche. Varios vecinos estaban en la azotea para verlos. Nuestra vecina más cercana es una mujer encantadora llamada Lucía. Vive aquí desde que el edificio era nuevo (1982) y ha criado a tres hijos, todos los cuales nos visitan con frecuencia y también son encantadores. Vienen tan a menudo que nos estamos conociendo. Dos viven en Málaga y uno en Córdoba. Tienen hijos mayores que también son cariñosos y amables. Una familia excepcional. Así que los visitamos anoche mientras veíamos los fuegos artificiales a 3 km de distancia.
Ahora me toca raparme el pelo, recortarme la barba, y afeitarme. Tengo que intentar al menos estar presentable para Evan y Sarah, que llegan en dos horas y media. No se pierdan la puesta de sol del jueves.
