I beg your pardon / Le pido disculpas

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

San Geraldo yesterday gave me choices for lunch dessert. He had bought two flavors of ice cream. One, macadamia nut, was not his preference. So, although I’m seriously trying to not have so many sweets, I once again had to be polite. Anyway, he asked if I wanted ice cream or Lanirma Deduce [oh, sigh] (aka Ines Rosales). I deduced ice cream would be better. I only ate a little (in comparison to what I used to eat).

I had big plans for Monday. After finishing breakfast around 12:15, commenting on blog posts, replying to comments on mine, throwing in a load of laundry, having lunch, washing lunch dishes, and hanging laundry, I ran out of steam and went to bed for the rest of the afternoon. So I didn’t get around to trimming my hair and beard, shaving, showering, and going for a walk.

I had planned to buy a throw pillow I had been seeing in a shop window. I worried that by the time I got around to buying it, it would no longer be available. But since the two good throw pillows we’ve had in the living room had been hidden from view to keep them safe from the cats, I figured there was no reason to buy another one to hide. The perfect color combination (in my opinion) isn’t easy to find. A mix of gold (but not too gold and not too yellow or orange), gray (but not too dark), and a splash of red or crimson or rust or cinnamon or burgundy or maroon; and some neutral tones. I have plans again today.

I did end up showering and shaving and trimming yesterday evening. I was appalled by my appearance and was not ready to be seen by my public. SG and I took a walk to Goiko Grill for dinner. Antonio and Noelia were working. They’re a couple and both a joy. They have a cat and Antonio is enjoying some of the haul from us. However, he didn’t take our second cat tree because he bought their cat a tree last year and, after 9 months, he gave it to the shelter. The cat refused to go anywhere near it and Antonio thought 9 months was enough of a trial.

By dinner’s end, I was done in and ready for bed. I’m feeling significantly improved today and plan to be a lot more active.

SG y yo fuimos a cenar a Goiko Grill. Antonio y Noelia estaban trabajando.

• Hey, kids, let’s all pluck rose petals! I was indignant but I got over myself. They each took one petal and enjoyed it.
• ¡Oye, niños! ¡Vamos a arrancar pétalos de rosa! Me indigné, pero se me pasó. Cada uno cogió un pétalo y lo disfrutó.

I first had a link to the original, but then I discovered kd lang. I think I like the original version better, but I like kd herself better.

    1. Jim:
Well, my body won’t shut up! The roses all over the city are incredible. I haven’t shared even half of them.

  1. Oh, how I remember KD’s “Shadowland.” My god, what a voice! We were all swooning at the Moon place when that came out.
Look at you- up and groomed! Well, we could look at you if you showed us a picture of your handsome self. Glad you and SG got out for supper. That, and roses can truly lift a spirit.

    1. Ms. Moon:
Oh, yes, kd lang has an incredible voice. If I find my handsome self, I’ll be sure to share him.

  2. Oh, my goodness, I could just cry at how beautiful your photos are of these roses. Thank you 🙂
So glad to hear that you have gotten so much done over the two days, and that you are improving.
Lanirma Deduce — haaa! Made me let out a good little laugh 🙂

    1. Judy C:
I’m so glad you like the rose photos. I have to hold myself back. They’re everywhere and the light is brilliant.

  3. More beautiful roses! You are spoiling us…

I never even knew that k.d. lang released a cover of that Lynn Anderson classic. She does have an utterly fabulous voice, but I still prefer the original.

So glad – like Shirley Devore – you got out of the house!

Forgot to thank you for Ring Them Bells. If she hadn’t tried Dubrovnik, she might still be alone! I haven’t listened to this in ages and it is classic Liza. And yes, you’ve got to ring them bells.

  4. Such beautiful roses — their bouquet must smell heavenly! Great job on the photos too, Scoot.

And K.D Lang — now there’s a blast from the past. I remember when she started out in the early ’80’s in an old wedding dress and cowboy boots! Great voice. Great Canadian.

    1. Tundra Bunny:
Not all the roses have a strong fragrance, but it’s pretty wonderful. I remember the old wedding dress and cowboy boots. kd lang has come a long way.

    1. larrymuffin:
Well, he did once refer to them as Irma La Douce, so now that’s stuck in his head. The roses do bloom and fade so quickly. But there are so many.

  5. I’ve always loved kd lang’s voice and didn’t know she did a cover of this.
Hard to pick, but I think my favorite roses are the yellow. Gorgeous!

    1. kelly:
kd lang’s voice is so unbelievably rich. I love listening to her. I prefer the original of this song, but I adore kd lang. My favorite roses are yellow.

  6. I’m glad you’re feeling better and now presentable to your public. Have you ever heard kd lang’s album “Hymns of the 49th Parallel,” all songs by Canadian songwriters? It’s my favorite of her albums. (And I have a lot of them!)

Maybe Antonio’s cat had a bad tree-climbing experience earlier in life?

    1. Steve:
Oh, I could never get enough of kd lang. I do wonder about Antonio’s cat. I’ll bet if he kept the tree around for a few years, the cat would eventually love it.

  7. I’m glad you’re starting to feel better. It’s been a while. I’ve never found my cats willing to go on other cats’ trees. I think there’s a territorial thing going on. Boud.

    1. Boud:
It’s taking its sweet time to be completely gone, but I’m back with the living. Antonio had bought his cat a brand-new cat tree. Maybe the cat had a problem with a tree in a former life.

  8. 🎵🎶🎵”I never promised you a rose garden.”🎶🎵

Stunning roses!!!!! My bushes are all leafed out already in just a week and a half, but no blooms just yet.

    1. Mistress Maddie:
The roses are astounding here right now. Everywhere I look. Thanks for the musical notes.

  9. KD Lange’s version of that song is new to me. Fortunately, you came through on the rose garden, whether it was promised or not.

    1. Rade:
Yes. Happy to be getting out again, but still whining (at least in my head).
