Fashion Week / La Semana de la Moda

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

I ARRIVED IN New York for the tail end of Fashion Week. I didn’t bother attending any events, however, because when one is constantly being bombarded with the latest stylistic trends, one doesn’t need to waste one’s time on those uninspired designers. Check out what’s hot from Mediterranean shores to both sides of the East River.

Something New:
Capris Pants & Caprisiteensies?

Algo Nuevo:
Pantalones Capri y Capricitos?

Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
Cruising Chelsea, Manhattan / Cruzando Chelsea
And back to the cutting edge Costa del Sol.
Y de vuelta a la contemporánea Costa del Sol.

She was with plaid man in the next photo. I thought her dress was quite nice until I noticed the awkward position of the center butterfly. It was the same in front… which was even more awkward.

Ella estaba con el hombre a cuadros en la siguiente foto. Pensé que su vestido era bastante bonito hasta que noté la posición incómoda de la mariposa central. Era lo mismo en el frente … lo que lo hacía aún más incómodo.

He should have floated like a butterfly. Instead, he stung like a bee.

Él debería haber flotado como una mariposa. En cambio, picó como una abeja.

And let’s not forget my new glasses.
Y no olvidemos mis gafas nuevas.

Thanks. I love them and they’re great quality. I love my others, but these fit even better, block out all the sun, AND I’m still able to see the screen on my camera (I have to remove my other sunglasses to take pictures).

    1. Bob:
Poor woman probably can’t find another umbrella to match that outfit. Hard to tell in the photo, but it was drizzling… and blowing. And, oh those pants legs!

  1. I love “Cruising Chelsea”, he has style and he is wearing a helmet. They all look relaxed and comfortable, and isn’t that what we all want in life?

    1. David:
I don’t know if everyone wants relaxed and comfortable but at least they should be able to wear whatever they like (and often do)!

  2. So much hideousness! My faves are the Breakfast Buffet Lady, the Hawaiian Shirt Guy, and the Butterfly Dress Lady.

    1. Debra:
Those breakfast stripes were a bit hard on the eyes before my first cup of coffee. I wonder if butterfly lady was aware of how it looked… like she was birthing a butterfly!

  3. Tim Gunn would be so proud! Love the glasses, Scoot! Now, the person with the purple umbrella, can a person sleepwalk from California to Brooklyn? I haven’t been there in years, and yet, voila’.

    1. Deedles:
I’m sure a person can sleepwalk from California to Brooklyn… and they can stop at Area 51 and pick up an alien on the way. Definitely. Do YOU have that outfit … and that umbrella?

    1. Mistress Maddie:
I’m missing something, too, I think. But I’m becoming numb to it… well, except for those pants and shorts legs.

  4. My comment on yesterday’s post somehow didn’t show up. So I will try again. I’m not used to the one shorts leg being pulled up so it’s shorter than the other. But NOW, they’re doing it with long pants? I’m willing to wager that before long, they’ll be sold that way.

    1. Walt the Fourth:
Shorts, long pants, and Capris! Beats me. But have you seen the new designer jeans that have one tapered leg and one bell bottom? DESIGNER!
