Naked sunrise / Amanecer desnudo

SINCE SO MANY OF YOU (three?) were disappointed there were no photos of my naked self yesterday, I thought I’d give you a bit more. I was completely naked (except for slippers) when I took sunrise photos this morning. Still, you’ll have to use your imagination. Be generous! I think you just wanted a good laugh anyway.

I went out for coffee (I was the only one who had coffee) with friends Tynan, Elena, their daughter Paula, and Elena’s sister Isa. We social-distanced (and then some), and we still can’t hug, which sucks. But it was good to sit and visit for a while.

I don’t know about you, but it concerns me that I’m becoming a bit too comfortable being antisocial. We don’t have a huge circle of friends, but the ones we have are very special to us.

And, yes, I will gladly get the covid-19 vaccine. Spain has been working for months on a distribution plan, so I feel confident we won’t have to wait long once it’s made available.

Do you have any suggestions on how to teach a cat to tell time? Dudo understands he gets his daily treat from me when the clock chimes. Although he knows the general time of day to expect it, he doesn’t know how to tell 10:30 from 10:15 or 10:00. Unlike Moose who can yowl for two hours non-stop if he doesn’t get what he wants (and even if he does), Dudo usually gives only a delicate mew to get one’s attention. This morning, he sat on the rug in my office and quietly stared at me. When the clocks (grandfather and mantle) chimed 10, Dudo mewed once. I said, “Not yet.” At 10:15, mew. Not yet. He looked at me excitedly when the clock began to chime 10:30 and I rewarded them. Then again, this won’t shut up Moose.

If you’re tired of sunrise photos, I’ve included a photo of the front part of the terrace yesterday afternoon during a period of sunshine.

.

Dije: “Todavía no”.

This morning, there was no dramatic sunrise, but the surf is wild. Will head to the beach for a stroll… and pictures.

  1. Sunrise on your shoulders. Nice. 🙂 Once again, wonderful photos. The ones with the palm trees make me think I’m back in Hawaii.

    1. Mary:
Oh, Hawaii. My best friend from Boston lived on Maui for a few years. We visited once a long, looooong time ago. I wasn’t disappointed.

  2. Naked doesn’t count if you’re in silhouette! LOL

You have such amazing sunrises there. We won’t see the actual sun again until, oh, March or so. (Well, it’s not that bad, but it sometimes seems like it.)

I have no suggestions re. the cats. But something tells me they won’t stop coming to you at 10 a.m. no matter how often you reward them at 10:30!

    1. Steve:
“Naked doesn’t count if you’re in silouette.” I missed that when I was reading the naked instruction manual! SG decided to cut slices of banana bread this morning BEFORE the cats had their treats. They heard the two plates on the counter and it was all over!

  3. LOVE ALL THE PIX! except the first one, it’s too damn dark to see you! 🙁

you’re not anti-social, you’re selectively social. and with COVID, one cannot take chances. you have plenty of wonderful friends!

    1. anne marie:
Oh, so sorry about the first photo. I’ll try to do something about the exposure next time. (And thanks, but I AM feeling quite ANTI-social. Oh well.)

    1. Urspo:
I’ve got some other ideas. Watch this site. But, don’t get your hopes up; I’m no Mistress Maddie.

  4. I’m certain I was one of the three asking about the Mitchell Moon!

Our cat, Consuelo knows exactly when Carlos is finishing his trumpet practice every night. Just before he’s done, she wanders back by the door to wait for him to come out, and then she leads the way to treats. If y’all lived closer, i could have her tutor Moose.

    1. Bob:
Moose knows when a tv show has ended by the music. He comes running from wherever he is to get some loving. I think Consuelo would lose patience with him however. Dudo hasn’t been able to teach him anything.

I’ve got some moonshot ideas. Waiting for another dramatic sunrise.

      1. Mistress Maddie is one of a kind, Scoot (thank goodness). We’ve also seen your face more often, and a good face it is. Hugs and forehead kisses.

  5. Given you telling us constantly how cold it is in Fuengirola I am surprised you did not catch your death of cold, pneumonia must be just around the corner. Is that an iceberg on the ocean just above your shoulder in the photo? I think it would be safer if you went out with your mink wrap.

    1. larrymuffin:
Unlike SG, I’m able to tolerate these frigid temps. Speaking of mink wraps, I wonder who took my grandmother’s mink stole when she died. SG could use it.

  6. This post reminded me of ” simonscat.com”. Are you familiar with his cartoon films? They are hilarious to anyone who knows cats!! The first one I ever saw ( years ago now) was the cat trying to wake his owner up in bed!

    1. Frances:
Oh, thanks for reminding me of Simon’s Cat. I loved those videos and will find some to watch today… And I especially remember the waking his owner one. I think that was also the first one I saw.

    1. Jim:
There’s one to the side but only one or two terraces can see into that end of ours and I figure if they’re out that early and want something to see, who am I to deny them.
