Spain’s Got Talent / Got Talent España

Yesterday was The Kid Brother’s birthday. San Geraldo and I started a video call to sing to him. He didn’t answer. I dialed again. He didn’t answer. I phoned his landline, telling SG that at least his roommate would answer that. He did. I told him we were calling to wish KB a happy birthday. KB yelled from the other room. “Tell ’em to call on my other phone! I’m ready now!”

I redialed and we sang in harmony, which changed to loud comedy as The Kid Brother laughed and yelled the entire time: “That’s enough! Cut! Cut! Aright aready!” When we finished with a throat-searing contralto, I asked, “How’d we do? A 10?”

He smiled and thought for a moment, “Uh, I’d give it a 2!”

I sent KB a big birthday care package from Wegman’s supermarket. When I asked if he had received it, he asked why I did it, telling me it was expensive. I told him it was a special thing for his birthday and he smiled. We chatted for a bit after which I walked into SG’s office to thank him for singing with me.

Dudo and Moose were having a stand-off on the top shelf of the kitty condo. Dudo was there first, but Moose was pushing his weight around. SG wants to get a new kitty condo that has two top shelves. I figure they’ll always want the one the other is on.

I’m meeting Karen and Peter for coffee in Torremolinos this afternoon. SG and I have some great day trips coming up this month and an overnighter in Sevilla. I’m so excited.

.

Él no respondió. Marqué de nuevo. Él no respondió.

Estoy tan emocionada.

  1. Belated happy birthday to Chuck!
Day trips and an overnight in Sevilla! Ooooh! Looking forward to hearing more.

  2. Happy Birthday to Chuck! I think you are right, no matter where one cat is, the other one will want that space. They have not quite mastered the concept of private property, or personal space.

  3. Dudo’s face!!!!! “Ok you win this time bitch.” You could have three top platforms…they’d still squabble. It’s a power trip thing.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
Definitely a power trip. Moose hadn’t actually won. He wanted it all for himself.

  4. “I figure they’ll always want the one the other is on.” Ah! You have learned kitty wisdom, my young apprentice…

    1. Wicked Hamster:
I don’t know why I said “I figure.” I know. They could have two clean and freshly filled dried food dishes. Identical. Dudo will walk over to the one Moose is eating from, he’ll take a paw and slide it over for himself. Moose then walks around him to the other dish. And again…

    1. janiejunebug:
And if we talk to Dudo or pet Dudo, Moose is immediately there. They’re 11-1/2, you’d think they would have outgrown it. Then again, people never do.

  5. Belated happy birthday wishes to your brother!

Based on what I know of cats, if you got a new condo, they’d just squabble over the box it came in.

  6. Funny, I thought the look on Dudo’s face was clearly one of “Eat shit and die, Moose!”… True sibling rivalry: can’t live with ’em, can’t shoot ’em!

    1. Tundra Bunny:
Moose wanted the whole shelf. Dudo refused to budge. So, you’re right about that look.

    1. Ron:
Can’t wait for the trips and to share them. I’ll tell KB tonight that Ron from “up there” in Nova Scotia wished him a happy birthday. Thanks!
