The photos begin, above, with this morning’s sunrise. I’m waiting to hear back from the car dealership after “speaking with” their automated system. There were an awful lot of long silences. I actually hung up the first time thinking I had been disconnected. Service at the dealership is great. The sales office is not. Unfortunately, there’s no direct line to Service. Everything goes through Sales. We’ll see how long this takes. I’d like to go to IKEA today to buy new dishes and sheets, but the loose plastic undercarriage on the car makes it unsafe to drive on the highway. It flaps when I pick up speed.
We have an electrical outlet that has come loose in the living room. It’s the one we use for our router, so it’s become a royal pain. All three electricians I’m familiar with in the neighborhood are “closed temporarily.” I know a car caught fire in front of one and caused damage to the shop. I have no idea what’s going on with the other two. These are the kinds of things I still hate doing in Spanish.
San Geraldo suggested going to Mesón Salvador last night for dinner, partly to pull me out of the doldrums (and bed). It worked, at least temporarily. We received a royal greeting and felt like family. And our meal was delicious. The servings were so generous, we had no room for dessert.
The cats are demanding round two treats. My life has purpose.
• Lost in translation: In the Spanish version you can have fried eggs with baby broad beans and Iberian ham. In the English version, you can have broken eggs with broad beans, baby, and Iberian ham. (I added the comma). I explained this to Anderson and from now on everything I order will be followed by “baby.” Last night I enjoyed pluma Ibérica, baby. Really, without the comma it means you’re a baby who likes broad beans.

Such pretty boys (now which photo brought out that thought?) Perhaps you could sideline as a menu translator.
David:
I’ve thought of offering my services for menus and signage. The amount of money spent on bad translations!
Look at poor Dudo — so weak from lack of treats that he can’t even sit up like Moose. It’s time for treats, baby!
Debra:
And he is now “getting week” every hour and a half!
This was meant for you! – https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2P_uMJb9X5QZDZZA7pqgsOHFBHqppCP8iW-0dU4FLSpyVksU-LNCR6AIC8yrAPCOFeBalfGDETLyXk-SAlAJtM666A89BwSS33XfR8Ix5kpqsLhCo7yXakPm3-Bnhotha8GGHTPPn5JF-ToGPrBFNHBq1NOumJgUxCcBtWYT9262cfd6yFyMDillreKmC/s742/th-1832050306.jpg
sillygirl:
This is hilarious… and so true.
Sounds like a good distraction did the trick!
Jim:
It always helps.
Oh that “G” and “J” controversy ~ I confess and I’m not even Spanish, that I was sooooo confused too! LOL
Ron:
Everyone gets confused by that.
That “baby” comment made me smile. I hope you get your car issues resolved soon. I also have a Toyota hybrid, but it isn’t a Prius. I get great gas mileage. I have had the car for five years now, and the dealership keeps sending me emails asking me to trade my car in for a newer model. I don’t want another car payment so I am happy with what I have as long as it keeps on being as reliable as it has been. Because my car is a hybrid, it hasn’t lost as much value.
mcpersonalspace54:
This is our second Prius. We had a 2004, which we loved. We’re not as in love with this one. Awful turning radius and little issues here and there. I’ll write a bit more today.
Looks v. tasty – Manuel, I mean. As also do D.& M. (but of course). And in addition must say, that S.G. looks particularly appealing here.
Raybeard:
I had a series of odd photos of SG. Manuel is a sweetheart.
Ahhh, well we care that you had a great time last night at Mesón Salvador! Oooooh, it all looked so scrumptious. (I do know two women named Gerry, by the way 🙂 )
Judy C
Judy C:
We had two friends a while back. A lesbian couple named Judy and Jeri. Since we spent a lot of time together, Jerry and Jeri went by Girl Jeri and Boy Jerry.
Manuel, baby!
And more “food porn”, to boot… You’re spoiling us. Jx
After seeing that incredible opening photo….if those skies were here, maybe I’d be a morning person….and San Geraldo’s gleeful face….what more needs to be said today?
That’s a great picture of San Geraldo. Just what meat of yours is he smiling at?
It’s lunch time, baby! Or is it breakfast?
Food porn, adorable men, and feline punim.
It’s a good day!
Bob:
I love when you use the word “punim.”
yes it is always about treats. Do not dare to question this.
Urspo:
I’m so flattered when they greet me at the door. Then I remember the time.
