Yesterday, after my fourth MRI, I wasn’t looking forward to the dentist/orthodontist. Not that I mind the dentist/orthodontist. My current one is wonderful. I just wasn’t in the mood. Besides it meant driving back to Benalmádena only 1-1/2 hours after being there for the scan. At least San Geraldo didn’t have to chaperone me. I left him at Mesón Salvador after my pitufo breakfast (see below), came home to brush my teeth, and hopped in the car. It’s less than 10 minutes from home. The medical center is another 10 minutes beyond there.
My broken single-wire retainer was removed from behind my top teeth and I was fitted for a new plastic retainer to be worn at night (a bit different from the one I had). No more wire behind the top teeth. Hooray! After that I was told I’d be called (probably today, Friday) when the new retainer is in. I asked, “What about the cleaning?” She said, “You don’t need a cleaning. Your teeth couldn’t be more clean and perfect.” I was astounded… and so very proud. Even better, 4 hours later I received a message that my new retainer was ready for pick-up. So I drove over and then drove a minute further to take in the view from the terrace of the Enlightenment Stupa (Buddhist Temple). Built in 2003 as a monument to world peace, prosperity, and harmony, it’s the largest Stupa in the Western World.
I decided to start celebrating last night. After all, I survived Thursday. San Geraldo and I went to Primavera for dinner. I shocked the staff by ordering a gin and tonic. Two stopped by to double-check that I wanted real gin and not non-alcoholic. It was so good. I followed dinner with housemade vanilla ice cream (exquisite) drizzled in hot fudge. SG instructed Anna that, for his, first hot fudge goes in the bottom of the parfait glass, then the ice cream, and then more hot fudge. The hot fudge was also exquisite, but I reigned myself in and had hazelnuts on top of mine instead of a bowl of hot fudge. I didn’t sleep much last night, but it was worth it.
I just picked up my framed drawing. I couldn’t be more pleased. I hope to share that and the living room wall tomorrow. Right now, I’ll just sit here in the cool of my office. It’s only 2.5 km (1.5 miles) round-trip to the frame shop. But the humidity is 82% and I arrived home soaked with sweat (pardon me, perspiration).

Ayer, después de mi cuarta resonancia magnética, no tenía ganas de ir al dentista/ortodoncista. No es que me importe el dentista/ortodoncista. Mi actual es maravilloso. Simplemente no estaba de humor. Además, significaba conducir de regreso a Benalmádena solo 1-1/2 horas después de estar allí para la exploración. Al menos San Geraldo no tuvo que acompañarme. Lo dejé en Mesón Salvador después de mi desayuno pitufo (ver más abajo), llegué a casa para cepillarme los dientes y me subí al auto. Está a menos de 10 minutos de casa. El centro médico está otros 10 minutos más allá.
Me quitaron el retenedor roto de un solo alambre de detrás de los dientes superiores y me colocaron un nuevo retenedor de plástico para usar por la noche (un poco diferente del que tenía). No más alambre detrás de los dientes superiores. ¡Hurra! Después de eso, me dijeron que me llamarían (probablemente hoy, viernes) cuando me colocaran el nuevo retenedor. Pregunté: “¿Qué pasa con la limpieza?” Ella dijo: “No necesitas una limpieza. Tus dientes no podrían estar más limpios y perfectos”. Estaba asombrado… y muy orgulloso. Aún mejor, 4 horas después recibí un mensaje de que mi nuevo retenedor estaba listo para ser recogido. Así que manejé y luego conduje un minuto más para contemplar la vista desde la terraza de la Estupa de la Iluminación (Templo Budista). Construida en 2003 como un monumento a la paz, la prosperidad y la armonía mundiales, es la estupa más grande del mundo occidental.
Decidí empezar a celebrar anoche. Después de todo, sobreviví el jueves. San Geraldo y yo fuimos a cenar a Primavera. Sorprendí al personal al pedir un gin tonic. Dos se detuvieron para comprobar que quería ginebra de verdad y no sin alcohol. Fue muy bueno. Seguí la cena con helado de vainilla casero (exquisito) rociado con chocolate caliente. SG le indicó a Anna que, para él, el primer chocolate caliente va en el fondo del vaso de parfait, luego el helado y luego más chocolate caliente. El chocolate caliente también era exquisito, pero me controlé y puse avellanas encima de la mía en lugar de un tazón de chocolate caliente. No dormí mucho anoche, pero valió la pena.
Acabo de recoger mi dibujo enmarcado. No podría estar más contento. Espero compartir eso y la pared de la sala mañana. En este momento, me sentaré aquí en el fresco de mi oficina. Son solo 2,5 km (1,5 millas) de ida y vuelta hasta el taller de armazones. Pero la humedad es del 82% y llegué a casa empapado de sudor (perdón, transpiración).

• “ ¡Buenos días! ¿Es hora de aperetivos?”
