We were unable to attend Mesón Salvador’s Halloween dinner this year, which was the pits for us. I’m sure the party was excellent and I hope to be able to share photos of what they served. We don’t have trick-or-treaters here, but our neighbors bring their two daughters around. Their daughters are 5 and 9 and are learning English in school, and doing phenomenally well. We all talked about my helping the older of the two practice English conversation (she suggested it). They seemed to love the idea. I’ll have to make sure to follow up, because that would bring me joy. I bought special Halloween treats for them both plus some extras in case friends stopped by. I have chocolate to eat.
San Geraldo baked his spiced apple cake again this week and we enjoyed it with breakfast (you can see the apple cake and my gourmet breakfast above), and after lunch and dinner.
Isabel was here making the house beautiful today while we enjoyed coffee with Lulu, who brought us pastries from her favorite Finnish bakery. San Geraldo and I enjoyed those when we got home.
Then you’ll see a couple of photos from yesterday’s walk and a quick look at San Geraldo’s office the night (and any night) before Isabel is here. It’s immaculate now, but won’t be for long. This is actually a huge improvement over the last year when there was that 4-foot pile of clothes in the corner (there’s a new, smaller pile in front of that space). His great-great-grandfather looks over it all. I wonder what he thinks.
We’ve both been in a bit of a rut in recent weeks, so are looking forward to our trip to London and its environs a week from tomorrow. Isabel and her daughter will stay here while we’re gone, which makes traveling so easy.
Este año no pudimos asistir a la cena de Halloween del Mesón Salvador, lo cual fue un desastre para nosotros. Estoy segura que la fiesta estuvo excelente y espero poder compartir fotos de lo que sirvieron. Aquí no tenemos niños que viene para truco-o-trato, pero nuestros vecinos traen a sus dos hijas. Sus hijas tienen 5 y 9 años y están aprendiendo inglés en la escuela y les va fenomenalmente bien. Todos hablamos de que yo ayudaría a la mayor de las dos a practicar la conversación en inglés (ella lo sugirió). Parecía que les encantaba la idea. Tendré que asegurarme de hacer un seguimiento, porque eso me traería alegría. Compré golosinas especiales de Halloween para ambos y algunos extras en caso de que pasaran amigos. Tengo chocolate para comer.
San Geraldo volvió a hornear su pastel de manzana especiado esta semana y lo disfrutamos con el desayuno (puedes ver el pastel de manzana y mi desayuno gourmet arriba), y después del almuerzo y la cena.
Isabel estuvo hoy aquí embelleciendo la casa mientras disfrutábamos de un café con Lulu, quien nos trajo pasteles de su panadería finlandesa favorita. San Geraldo y yo los disfrutamos cuando llegamos a casa.
Luego verá un par de fotos de la caminata de ayer y un vistazo rápido a la oficina de San Geraldo la noche (y cualquier noche) antes de que Isabel esté aquí. Está impecable ahora, pero no lo estará por mucho tiempo. En realidad, esto es una gran mejora con respecto al año pasado, cuando había esa pila de ropa de 4 pies en la esquina (hay una pila nueva y más pequeña frente a ese espacio). Su tatarabuelo lo supervisa todo. Me pregunto qué piensa.
Ambos hemos estado un poco estancados en las últimas semanas, por lo que esperamos con ansias nuestro viaje a Londres y sus alrededores dentro de una semana. Isabel y su hija se quedarán aquí mientras nosotros no estemos, lo que hace que viajar sea muy fácil.
