I had to return to the health center at 8:50 this morning for another round of bloodwork. I’m fine. Just one thing that needed to be double-checked. Given my last experience (click here) and the fact that my arm is still a bit tender in two spots, I dreaded the appointment. But all went well.
I could have had an earlier appointment, like 8:48 or 8:49, but I chose 8:50 — because the calendar on my iPhone doesn’t have slots for those individual minutes. Not only did I have a time slot, but I also had a number, 36. I arrived early, at 8:47, and they were already up to number 45. So, I was taken immediately.
It’s not as hot as yesterday but more unpleasant. The humidity is currently 77%. Weather.com says it’s only 26˚C / 79˚F and feels like 29˚C / 85˚F. But it feels warmer than that to me. Well, clammier. Still, I’ve had breakfast and my morning cuppa (tea) and I’m about to walk over to the gym, another 20 minutes.
I hope you’ve all seen at least one clip of Joni Mitchell performing with Brandi Carlile at the Newport Folk Festival. I did a marathon yesterday. I can’t get enough. Imagine being there.
.
No puedo tener suficiente. Imagina estar allí.

• Amanecer del miércoles — tarde.

• Caminar a casa desde el gimnasio el lunes.

• No volvería a entrar.

• De vuelta en la playa.

• Y caminando a casa desde el centro de salud esta mañana. Dos gatos, uno sobre una fresca mesa de aluminio.

You know it is hot, when the cats are looking for the shade
David,
Yep. Our cats find shade on the terrace and when that doesn’t cut it anymore they come in for the AC.
Now THAT’S an ugly outfit pairing.
Cats are odd: on the hottest days here in Camden, the cats head toward the sunroom, clearly the warmest, er, hottest, room in the house, and sprawl out on the tile.
I don’t get them, but then that’s not my job.
Bob,
Our cats are predictable… usually… when it comes to heat and cool. Usually.
Bob,
You’d like it in plaid.
Yes, the Joni Mitchell clip was on our national news last night! Go, Joni!
Debra,
I got teary. And Brandi Carlile, too.
Those cats are funny. I’m glad Joni’s performance has made such a splash. I can identify all the singers on that building at top except for the woman at the far left — who is that supposed to be?
Hearing her sing ‘Summertime’ brought tears. I never expected to hear her sing live ever again. What a momentous occasion.
Your weather sounds like our weather here in Eastern Canada.. How is that even possible!! lol
Jim,
Yep, every song brought tears. Did you catch her on guitar?
That outfit and those cats look like roadkill! Bob would probably like that outfit if the top was blue and striped 🙂 Not a fan of Joni Mitchell but I won’t pee on those who are. See? I can be positive, sort of. I had blood drawn early this morning and all I could think about was your arm. *Shudder*. I need to make an ophthalmologist appointment soon, so Raybeard’s experience is weighing heavily on my mind. *Repeat shudder*.
Deedles,
Bob needs two plaids I think. I remembered that you weren’t a fan of Joni Mitchell. Other than that, you’re perfect. Yes, shudder. But yesterdays blood draw was the best ever. No soreness at all. Also, every one of my ophthalmologist appointments has been a success. So, I’d keep those thoughts in my head. I’ll be thinking of you!
Oh how I missed your blog. And your pictures..not the fashion so much. But those cats look how I feel in this heat I’ll tell ya.
Mistress Borghese,
I always miss your presence. Good to have you back. I’m not enjoying the heat much this month. I can’t believe I’m looking forward to the chill of Norway.
I started watching the clip of Joni singing Both Sides Now (John Grey had it on his blog), and I began crying immediately and had to stop watching it or I would still be crying now. Why does Joni have such power over me?
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug,
It’s the same for me. She’s a brilliant poet and oh that voice. Even now.
When squirrels lay on their stomachs like the orange tabby on the table, it’s called “splooting”, which actually makes it sound more fun than it actually is, LOL!
Tundra,
Splooting. I love that word! Moose was splooting when we left the house this morning.
Beautiful snaps, as usual!
Walt the Fourth,
Thanks. The colors and light here make it easy.
We have a neighbor whose cat always sleeps on top of their car. Cats can be weirdos!
Jennifer,
Either for warmth from the metal or cool from the metal. They know what they’re doing.
Jennifer… Plus, a great vantage point.
Those cats are my spirit animals these days.
Sassybear:
I hope they lead you to good health!
