I just wanna stay high / Solo quiero permanecer alto

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

Things are looking up. San Geraldo went out yesterday morning for coffee and a long conversation with Mr. Glasgow 2023. SG was long overdue for fun, intelligent and interesting conversation. My surgical wound is completely healed. My energy is returning — in brief spurts. I still can’t sit for long, but the sciatica is much better (less bad) than it’s been. I’ve done exciting things — like laundry and dishes (nothing heavy), and watering small plants. Wednesday is my appointment with the surgeon, when I expect to get the all-clear for exercise and stretching which will be great for everything, including reining in the sciatica. I look forward to sharing photos from different viewpoints than our terrace.

Yesterday was a perfect day. The windows and doors were open to welcome the comfortable breezes. While I watched the activities on the beach in the afternoon (under yellow flags due to some riptides), I saw lifeguards on jet skis speeding along. That’s unusual. I then saw two lifeguards sprinting along the shore in the same direction. Whomever they had rushed to help was fine. But, the surf had grown especially rough. Red flags replaced the yellow ones. And the jet-skiing lifeguards whistled for everyone to get out of the water.

The Kid Brother is great. He’s back to softball in Central Park on Sundays and says he needs to get “the pitching arm loosened up.” As for me, it’s time to go back to bed for a bit.

  1. Good to see and hear you are improving…..even if a tad slowly.
You a full day’s entertainment just looking out your window.

    1. Jim:
I need to remind myself how lucky I am to have a view like this in times like these.

  2. I do believe you have conquered this setback. I’m sure the long walks and gym work will kick back very soon and favourably. Hi to SG!!!!

  3. You can always post more photos of Mr Glasgow. Good to hear you are feeling better, and soon to be released so you can go parasailing.

    1. David:
I do have one more photo of Mr. Glasgow to share. He sent it from the beach.

  4. We’re expecting a high of 106 degrees today, so those beach pictures look very refreshing. Of course, I’ve been beating the heat by watching shark attack videos on YouTube while blasting my a/c, as if the airplane disaster videos weren’t bad enough. I’ve moved on to pets eating their owners.
Anyway, glad you’re getting yourself together gradually. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were you, Scoot. I don’t understand the concept of look forward to exercise so that’s probably why you’re so resilient. Take it easy. Hugs to SG. You’re still stuck with forehead kisses.

    1. Deedles:
No matter how unpleasant the heat has been here in town this summer, we haven’t experienced anything like you’ve had nor even what has been going on around us. You and SG would have a ball watching disaster videos together. And, thanks, I’ll never wash my forehead again.

    1. Jon:
Such strange weather. I wouldn’t mind just a little cooler, but we still haven’t been experiencing the awful extremes here in Los Boliches. 35 is predicted for several days this week. Ah well.

  5. A different song came to my mind with that title. Moose and Dudo are teasing me with those poses. I’ll just enjoy them from afar.

    1. Kelly:
If I weren’t already in love with Moose and Dudo, these days being their captive have cemented it.

  6. I can just about feel those summer breezes! And I just adore me some Britney Howard. I attended a pool party yesterday and I couldn’t have been more perfect. Sunny, just warm it off with a nice cool breeze.

    1. Mistress Borghese:
We’re supposed to hit high 90s this week, but right now it’s beautiful. Brittany Howard is a powerhouse … and only 34 years old! I would love to see her in person.

  7. And I thought you’d decided to take something more than paracetamol! Silly, suspicious me. The sail boats look so beautiful on the water. I’m glad you feel better.

    Love,
    Janie

    1. janiejunebug,
I wish I had had something other than paracetamol when I really needed it.

  8. I hope your mobility improves soon and you can keep that darn sciatica at bay! Glad the kid brother is doing well. Interesting about the lifeguards and the beach…the water doesn’t LOOK that bad. (That probably makes it more dangerous!)

    1. Steve:
The riptides are often unseen and extremely dangerous. Also, although the sea remains shallow for a long distance, there’s a sudden drop right at the water’s edge which makes it difficult to get out of the water if the surf is mixed.
