IT’S BEEN FAIRLY WARM (65°F/18°C) and mostly cloudy. Or perhaps partly cloudy. Then again, there have been a lot of clouds. Maybe it’s partly sunny. The wind has been gusting day and night. I stuck a knit cap in my pocket when I headed out for my walk this afternoon. I was fine at first,but when I needed the cap, I forgot I had it. I’ve been home an hour and a half and my ears still hurt.
The Kid Brother has been in good spirits this past week. When we phoned and sang “happy birthday,” he groaned but let us finish. When I asked him how we did. He said, “Not good!” I asked, “Did you get any mail since the last time we talked?” (I’m learning.) He said, “Quite a few postcards. Should I get ’em?” And he was off. “Don’t go anywhere! I’ll be right back!” he yelled. I wondered how many “quite a few” would be.
The first card was a buffalo from San Geraldo’s sister Linda in South Dakota. He said, “I remember those!” We took him and the Dowager Duchess there in 1989. It was a really difficult trip (as trips with the two of them together always were). SG and I needed a month’s vacation alone after that. But The Kid Brother has great memories and loves SG’s family.
Then there was a “really nice dog” from Jennifer (of Sparrow Tree Journal fame). When he spelled the name and I said “Jennifer,” he said, “I know them! And the parrot. I know. I know.”
He then said, “There’s one more! You won’t believe it. A Valentine’s card. A dog. With hearts. THAT is really funny.” That was from Mary, whom he also remembers now, and he loved it.
I think I forgot to mention, I broke my bottom retainer … again. I was in a rush a few weeks ago and pulled too hard. Yes, it’s actually easy to pull too hard. And, if you do, you can crack it. I’ve cracked mine twice. But back to the retainer. The new one was ready for pick-up two weeks ago, but there was a COVID exposure (a patient) and the orthodontist’s office was closed for two weeks. I picked up the retainer yesterday and will see how long it lasts.
The wind to me looked more interesting in black and white today. I hope you agree. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for stopping by and for keeping me [marginally] sane.

ESTÁ HABITUALMENTE CALIENTE (18°C/65°F) Y mayormente nublado. O quizás parcialmente nublado. Por otra parte, ha habido muchas nubes. Quizás esté parcialmente soleado. El viento ha sido racheado día y noche. Me metí un gorro de lana en el bolsillo cuando salí a caminar. Al principio estaba bien, pero cuando necesité la gorra, olvidé que la tenía. Llevo una hora y media en casa y todavía me duelen los oídos.
El Hermanito ha estado de buen humor la semana pasada. Cuando telefoneamos y cantamos “feliz cumpleaños”, él gimió pero terminemos. Cuando le pregunté cómo lo hicimos, él dijo: “¡No bueno!” Le pregunté: “¿Recibiste algún correo desde la última vez que hablamos?” (Estoy aprendiendo). Dijo: “Unas cuantas postales. ¿Debería conseguirlos?” Y se fue. “¡No vayas a ningún lado! ¡Vuelvo enseguida!” el grito. Me pregunté cuántos serían “unas cuantas”.
La primera carta era un búfalo de Linda, una hermana de las dos hermanas de San Geraldo, en Dakota del Sur. Él dijo: “¡Recuerdo esos!” Lo llevamos a él y a Mi Madre La Duquesa Viuda allí en 1989. Fue un viaje realmente difícil (como siempre lo fueron los viajes con los dos juntos). SG y yo necesitábamos un mes de vacaciones solos después de eso. Pero El Hermanito tiene grandes recuerdos y ama a la familia de SG.
Luego hubo un “perro realmente agradable” de Jennifer (de la fama de Sparrow Tree Journal). Cuando deletreó el nombre y dije “Jennifer”, dijo: “¡Los conozco! Y el loro. Lo sé. Lo sé.”
Luego dijo: “¡Hay uno más! No lo vas a creer. Una tarjeta de San Valentín. Un perro. Con corazones. ESO es realmente divertido”. Eso era de Mary, a quien también recuerda ahora, y le encantó.
Creo que olvidé mencionar, rompí mi retenedor inferior … de nuevo. Tenía prisa hace unas semanas y tiré demasiado fuerte. Sí, en realidad es fácil tirar demasiado fuerte. Y, si lo hace, puede romperlo. El nuevo retenedor estuvo listo hace dos semanas, pero hubo una exposición a COVID (un paciente) y la oficina estuvo cerrada durante dos semanas. Ayer recogí el retenedor y veré cuánto dura este.
El viento me pareció más interesante hoy en blanco y negro. Espero que estés de acuerdo Gracias desde el fondo de mi corazón por pasar y por mantenerme [marginalmente] cuerdo.
