You’re the one that I want / Eres el que quiero

La versión en español está después de la versión en inglés.

I MANAGED A LONG FAST-PACED walk around Los Boliches yesterday evening and, on my way home, I bumped into our friend Elena. She and Tynan were meeting at Mesón Salvador for an after-work drink, so I joined them. What a pleasure that was — even if we can’t hug. Air hugs are getting so old.

I texted San Geraldo to let him know where I was. He had just put a chicken in the oven and suggested I pick up something for dessert. So, Sergio packed up two big slices of cheesecake for me. It was a great meal. Tonight SG plans to cook something special, which I hope to tell you about tomorrow.

The rain, clouds, sun, and wind all come and go today. We nearly got blown away walking over to Mesón Salvador and it’s again whistling through the glass curtain and the windows in the hall. More rain is apparently on the way, but the worst (best) is supposed to again occur overnight. I hate to miss it.

Photos today are from a walk on the beach Wednesday, sunset from our back hall Wednesday evening, the cats during some of my time in bed during the week, and some local color. I try to not check the news every 15 minutes. It’s not easy, but then neither am I. (And I know the ones that I want.)

.

During the international fair a few years ago, these two arrived and many spectators thought they were part of the parade. They always dress like this and always look happy. I’ve been told they’re from Finland (the happiest country in the world)
Durante la feria internacional hace unos años, estos dos llegaron y muchos espectadores pensaron que eran parte del desfile. Siempre se visten así y siempre se ven felices. Me han dicho que son de Finlandia (el país más feliz del mundo)

  1. They would have LOVED the 60’s! And would have fit in perfectly.
I too do not like to miss out on a good storm……be it rain or snow.
I like it when Mother Nature puts us in our place for an extended period of time.
Shows how powerless we really are.
    great photos.

    1. Jim:
They were clearly there for the ’60s… and haven’t left. Lots of rain again last night. Clear and sunny right now. Damn.

  2. Storms used to be exciting for me not so much any more. I have had 2 car accidents that have left me in a state of extreme claustrophobia so when a snow storm or wind storm or any storm begins my chest feels heavy. I have never told anyone this.
I do however love the serenity of the kitties and un peopled beach and the HAPPY couple of course.

  3. Just one question: Is that video supposed to be creepifying? If it is, it worked like a charm! I get those ‘he’s got chopped up bodies in a freezer’ vibes from him.
I immediately thought Laplander with that colorful couple. Why Laplander? Who knows 🙂

    1. Deedles:
I love this guy! Did you click the link for the Pollito Pío video? The ending probably won’t surprise you given your impression of him. Your thought of Laplanders is actually perfect. The Sami people! Traditional costume is very colourful. Google them. (Some of SG’s ancestors.)

  4. Just goes to show there is a lid for every pot, as the old saying goes.

The second photo of Dudo and Moose appears to be an editorial response on the sartorial splendor of the duo. 🙂

    1. Mary:
Dudo tends to pose for me. Moose invariable looks away or covers his face. And then follows me around demanding non-stop attention. Cats.

  5. The older I get, the more likely I am to wear Purple -https://www.scottishpoetrylibrary.org.uk/poem/warning/
I love their sense of style and comfort.
    Cute kitties as always.
Often I click on the video, listen to the music and look at something else, I am so glad I watched those EYES, that Face. I think that took a lot of editing.

    1. David:
If you haven’t already, check out the link to the earlier Rosso video on my blog. Performed live on stage. No editing. Amazing. (And I included a translation of the song.)

    1. Debra:
At least their style is intentional. But it was so funny at the parade to listen to the people around me wonder which country’s marching group these two were with.

    1. anne marie:
I love seeing these two. They always look happy. Although I must admit I was a bit shocked the first time I saw them. And his hair was blue then.

  6. It’s nice those two found each other!
But if they wanna dress alike, they could take a few notes from Dudo and Moose, who always coordinate.

    1. Urspo:
Alive and well and living (part of the year) in Fuengirola. Somewhere in Finland (possibly the north) at other times.

Share your thoughts and experiences. It's always nice to know I'm not alone.
