We had our Covid shots this afternoon. I had a pneumonia shot to follow. The nurse gave me my first injection and said, “I just gave you Covid.” “Thanks!” I said. “Next you’ll give me pneumonia. And to think I came in here healthy.” It’s only been five hours but, so far, no sore arms and no side-effects. Here’s hoping it stays that way. We’re having dinner out tonight and I want to be at my best. There will be eight of us counting 5-year-old Yoel and 3-month-old Mia. I can’t wait. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow.
I’ve lately been going for 2–hour-or-more walks. Lots to share from yesterday, when I covered mostly new ground. Today all you get to see is one of my pauses on the beach (above). The rest of the photos involve food.
.
Tuvimos nuestras vacunas Covid esta tarde. Tuve una vacuna contra la neumonía a seguir. La enfermera me dio mi primera inyección y dijo: “Te acabo de dar Covid”. “¡Gracias!” Yo dije. “Después me darás neumonía.

• San Geraldo hizo cerdo desmenuzado anoche.

We got our seasonal flu shots yesterday and in January will get our third booster shot for Covid. In Canada Jamon Iberico de Bellota is $50 for 100 gr. This is why I would love to return to Spain to get some. We are planning a train trip for May 2023, Madrid, Salamanca, Toledo, Valencia, Granada.
Laurent:
That little paper cone of jamón ibérico de bellota was 13€. Not cheap here either, but obviously a lot more affordable than in Canada. Your train trip sounds like bliss. Such great places.
I’m pretending that ham and cheese are caramel and pineapple chunks. SG’s plate looks more appetizing to me. I love me some mashed potatoes mixed with peas!
I read the title of this post and started humming a Beatle’s tune. This song never occurred to me.
I’m happy your shots are done for the time being, and that you didn’t get sick from them. I got my booster and flu shots a couple of weeks apart. They both knocked me on my lack of ass.
Have fun with your friends, Scoot.
Deedles:
And now I’m craving pineapple. SG loves potatoes. That plate was piled high. I love them mixed with peas as well but as you can see I have more peas than potatoes. I have got two sore arms that are already better than they were when I went to bed last night. But I’ve got body aches and I’m whiney this morning. I had no side effects from my flu shot 2 weeks ago. Not even a sore arm. That’s never happened before. We had such a good time last night!
Mmmmm, that pulled pork looks delicious! I can’t eat most “sugar-free” stuff because malitol, sorbitol and other chemical sweeteners do a helluva number on my GI tract. However, I’m able to tolerate aspartame in beverages and I can bake with and eat Splenda (sucralose).
Debra:
That’s a shame about the sugar replacements, although it gives me a false sense of security. I’d be better not eating so many empty calories.
I bet you feel fine after all that fine food! I got my covid booster and annual flu shot simultaneously a few weeks ago with no issues at all. Each time I get a covid shot, I feel fine, even great for the first 24hrs, and then I feel tired for about a day. Enjoy your dinner out with friends.
Wilma:
Flu shot was two weeks ago with no side-effects. A first for me. But I’m feeling the after-effects of the latest Covid shot. Achy and tired. So far, not too bad — just enough to allow me to whine.
Old cheese, and ham, and other goodies, yummy!
David:
There was many places in Sevilla where we could get old cheese ice cream. Surprisingly delicious.
Yummy looking pulled pork. I haven’t made pulled pork in about a year, but I have a roast in the slow cooker today. It smells great. I didn’t have any reaction to the flu vaccine. I got the bivalent COVID vaccine almost a week ago. When I finally sat down to relax that night, I realized my arm was sore. I also noticed it the next day. It didn’t stop me from doing everything I wanted to do.
Love,
Janie
janiejunebug:
SG has perfected his pulled pork. Always excellent. And the best leftovers. I’ve reacted to the covid shot. Not awful but I will be going back to bed.
Fuck! You’ve made me hungry with all this “food porn”. Our fave Tapas restaurant in Malaga Old Town is Lo Gueno, and, inevitably <em.Jamon ibérico de bellota and Queso manchego viejo are the treats of the table. Jx
Jon:
I’ll have to check out Lo Gueno. Have never noticed it.
We have had our 5th covid shot which was the bivalent one and the flu shot. As far as after-effects…..nothing to write home about.
Jim:
Well, I do have two sore arms, but already better than last night. However, I grew achy and kind of miserable during the night and am still feeling that way. A day in bed before an early dinner with friends tonight should do the trick.
That ham and cheese are mighty tempting! And SG’s pulled pork! Yum.
Walt the Fourth:
I love the acorn-fed ham. I would be very happy sat in front of a ham and cheese board! SG’s pulled pork is always excellent.
“Too nutty” — LOL! You say that like it’s a bad thing.
Steve:
I know. Not a bad thing for me, but a very bad thing for SG. No allergy. But he especially hates walnuts and pecans and has been known to projectile spit when he unknowingly gets any in his mouth. Charming.
